Aftermarket Gauge Lighting On Stock Switch
By Jeff Bihn
After you have finished installing your gauge to its proper source (boost, temp, pressure, etc...), you may wish to connect the light to run on the same switch as the stock gauge lights. To do this follow these instructions.
Tools:
small phillips head screw driver, wire strippers or razor knife, pliers or crimping tool, and soldering iron (optional)
Materials:
1 "T" or scotchlock wire connectors
electrical tape
There are two ways to access switchable power source. The first way is if you have stock fog lights, and the second is if you dont have them.
Stock fog light steps:
1- Carefully take off the lower moulding for the dash under the steering wheel. There are a about 4 small external screws, two brackets to carefully pull out, and two bolts to undo. You do not need to take the metal housing for the dash off.
2- Snake the power and ground wires into the dash, and pull them out the bottom by the fog light switch.
3- Take your power wire and the "T" connector and splice into the green with silver stripped wire off the fog light. You will know you are splicing into the correct wire since this wire is the second from the top of the harness as it sits connected.
4- Take your ground wire and connect it to any clean gounding source, such as the chassis or the metal housing for the dash.

Alternative switchable source steps:
1- Carefully take off the lower moulding for the dash under the steering wheel. There are a about 4 small external screws, two brackets to carefully pull out, and two bolts to undo. You do not need to take the metal housing for the dash off.
2- Snake the power and ground wires into the dash, and pull them out the bottom by the ignition switch.
3- Take your power wire and the "T" connector and splice into the hot lead off the green light around the ignition switch. Please test the lead with a multimeter and make sure that you are not tapping into the ignition switch itself.
4- Take your ground wire and connect it to any clean gounding source, such as the chassis or the metal housing for the dash.
