I would buy them from the dealer. I worked in Fuel Injector Engineering at Ford a few assignments ago and we used special o-ring materials for all of our injector applications (usually flurosilicone). It appears that >the >sensor has four wires to it and I've heard that you can get 1-wire and 2-wire >units from Bosch, but what about a 4-wire? > > All oxygen sensors are essentially the same. They all give off the same voltage and the appropriate readings. Four wire sensors are used when: 1 - the sensor is positioned downstream of the exhaust manifold, causing a delay in heating up at startup. 2 - when there happens to be some sort of obstruction before the sensor (like a turbo). The turbo then likes to soak up most of the heat. I would recommend just finding the cheapest 4 wire and making it work. I'm currently using a GM 4 wire sensor (about $60.00). They don't have a flange like normal Toyota type sensors (they screw in like a spark plug) so I had a flange fabricated. Basically, it's a flange copy and a nut welded on. They trickiest part is just matching up the correct wires. Two of them are the heater, one the signal, and the last a signal ground. Is it OK to just leave my '91 MR-2 turbo parked for 6 weeks? Or should I have a friend take it for a spin every week? Hey, could one of you kindly English type near Cobham, Surrey, England call up Brooklands Books and see if they are going to produce one of their Road Test Books for the MKII MR2s? They have one for the 1984-1988, but none advertised yet for 1990-1995. If they're not going to do it, one of us could (possibly me). Thanks. For want of saving a few cents/dollars go with the larger filter. It may also have a different pressure rating for releasing the by-pass valve. It used to be a 90915-03004 but I know it changes a couple of times. Using any other type of O-ring will cause a rapid break down of them. I've just replaced the head gasket on my MK1 and replaced the O-rings with Toyota O-rings. The part number is 23291-41010 at a cost of $2.76 each. Good luck!! Maybe a junkyard might have one you can salvage. The trouble lies in the variances the the non-OE sensor could introduce, confuse the ECU and other control modules. If you go to a junk (sorry, salvage/recycling center) yard get as close to year, trans, etc. as you can. Matt Murray PS Sorry I sound like a shill for Toyota, its the ex-parts manager in me. :-) With time I'll get it out of my system. ------------------------------ From: Andrew Adams Date: Sat, 23 Dec 1995 01:12:40 -0600 Subject: CD Player skipping A while back there were some comments about the 3-in-1 not playing certain discs; it is also mentioned in the FAQ. I had this problem in my '93, but I have just had the unit replaced, under warranty, by a reasonably compliant dealer. The new unit seems to not have this problem at all; I'm enjoying CD's I never could listen to at all. So for those of you still under 36K with this problem, have your head unit swapped out.
