I stand corrected. It seems like this lower current to the pump is either a way to save battery current at low rpms and/or provide a band-aid fix for a factory regulator that's too small. Just keep in mind that whatever current OR fuel flow that is being pumped from the pump, fuel pressure is still regulated by the regulator. That's it's only purpose in there, to keep and maintain that fuel rail pressure/differential. Whether it's a monstrous pump pushing 1000 gph or a factory pump, the regulator will still regulate to 36 psi. Any excess fuel will merely be rerouted back to the fuel tank. I currently have this oil in my '91 turbo (no LSD) as the owners manual says the car requires a GL-5 rated oil. BTW, all the necessary information for determining the proper oil for your car is contained in the technical brouchures from Red Line (although you'll have to do a bit of deciphering to get the final answer). Also, don't count on Red Line giving you the *correct* answer unless you give them ALL the information on your car. When I first asked them, they said 75W-90, but later when I said the car didn't have LSD, they said 75W-90NS. There's a summary of the Red Line oil technical information available on the Red Line Oil section of the MR2 web site... The sound the turbo makes when accelerating or going up a hill is kinda like the sound your stomach makes when your hungry but in short bursts like gruuuuuurrrrrr and it only lasts about one second. It doesn't always do it but most of the time I can make it happen. Its sounds to me like the wastegate but Im not sure, can any of you help? Disconnecting the O2 sensor, or driving with an old O2 sensor that does not put out any voltage, will *not* melt down the engine or cause excessive lean conditions. It will cause the computer to run rich, since a low or zero voltage from the O2 sensor indicates a lean condition. Running rich all the time, however, may burn up the catalytic converter. The only bottleneck is gettin the nuts off of the mounts. I changed mine on my 88 SC last year in about an hour. I don't believe there are any concrete miles of timeframe to change. My dealer thought about 60k. I also have the HKS exhaust. This is supposed to give about 8-10 more horses. It is quite loud. I don't think any of the others would really give much more horse. And as far as noticing in acceleration, 8-10 horse is really not going to be noticeable. Supposed quicker build up to maximum boost claiming a half second off the quarter mile time. 2. I live at 3600 feet altitude and miss the stock boost attainable at sea level. With only 29,000 miles, I'm not ready to push it to 16psi. Rather, I'm interested in running the factory max of 11.8, but I wanted that compensated for the altitude like the EVC III atm does. 3. Though Marc Summers has an absolutly wonderful and cheap ($15, see his ap note on MR2.com for installing intercooler fan and raising boost) way to raise boost, even he has stated he'd like to get the EVC someday. He's used his for 2 years so I figured do it right the first time. 4. I figure, at least for the time being, if I set the maximum and the alarm for 11.8, I'd at least have some sort of foot to stand on if I blew the engine under warranty. So does the MKII need any enrichment to be safely run up to 16psi as Kip or Marc are doing? And I (and Kip) missed a few of these, so I'll re-ask, is there any hints anyone can give me as to hooking up the EVC this week? DO NOT buy a new motor until you have directly confirmed that it has failed. I had one of those motors on the shelf for around 4 years. Outside shops would do a quick diagnosis without really checking the motor. They would call us up (I, being a former Toyota Parts Manager) to order. We would advise them not to order. In every case it was the window regulator that had failed. The regulator is a combination of goofy cables and other gears. I'm not saying that it isn't the motor, but considering the cost of the motor, and its non-returnability, I would check the regulator first. BTW, it is sort of a pain in the neck to do the job, you might want to pay someone to do it (I would :->> ).
