Hey! Having the radiator fans run, after ignition is turned off, is one of those "little unsung heroes" of ENGINE LIFE EXPECTANCE. This LOWERS PRESURE on your engines HEAD GASKET, at a time when the head is cooling and the radiator pressure is RISING. S.A.E. says this is responsible for engines going further miles than ever before. "Let 'em run"! Your answer might be "Yes, of course", but there is something ELSE you can do to help yourself,REMOVING the oil filter, later. Put the "greased" oil filter on and "spin down", WHEN YOU FEEL THE GASKET FIRST CONTACT THE BASE: STOP! Count 2/3 turn MORE (to "SEAT" the filter). "BACK OFF" the FILTER UNTIL THE GASKET IS "UNSEATED" (NOT 2/3 turn, ignore # of turns here). START OVER ! 1.) tighten 2/3 turn PAST FIRST "FULL SEAL" CONTACT. 2.) UNseat filter gasket, RE-tighten 2/3 turn past first FULL contact. 2.) DO THIS 3 TIMES to compress and uncompress the seal, you will find the filter reaches 2/3 turn AT DIFFERENT POINTS (further and further DOWN). If you follow this procedure, as I did in the "shop", you WILL be able to R&R your OWN oil filters. But my fiancee and I went to Austin this weekend, so that meant windows up, A/C on, radio down driving. I noticed that my car is noisy as heck. My 91T makes an awful amount of gear noise. I really notice it when I'm decelerating with the car in gear (any gear) with the clutch pushed in. I know its gear noise because I can pull it out of gear and the noise goes away. Anyone else bothered by this? Will Redline 75-90NS possibly make it go away? Also on the subject of noise, my car makes a weird rubbing sound when decelerating from about 10-0. It might make the noise all the time I'm decelerating, but I can only hear it from about 10-0. It sounds like the brakes are rubbing or something. Its a low pitched rubbing. not a squeal at all. I think it is the brakes, because if I let off it goes away...but it could be that the application of the brakes just amplifies it? I jacked up the car and spun the wheels, but it didn't seem to make the noise. Any guesses? Also my car seems to have lots of wind noise at the bottoms of the A pillars. Any guesses?
