But, I hope your trying to sell it off the list. I think you should be able to get $4500-5000 for it easy, but not on the list. Consider, most folks on the list have an MR-2...and the only way you will sell an MR-2 to them, is if they consider it an upgrade from their present car. The fact that you have a 91 automatic NA will get in the way, since more commonly folks upgrade to an SC or Turbo or 93+ car. Not that there is anything wrong with a 91 NA automatic, just that it may not be the upgrade path for the average sportcar nut on this list. Best wishes... It would be interesting to get an inventory of what these wires are, and what wires are not included in the 'premium' alarm installs. Steve B. - ------------------------------------------------------------ I think if I had done the whole thing from start to finish it would have taken me another day or two beyond the two I spent. BTW I was looking at the electrical system manual -- I offered to let them use it too, but they didn't know how to read it (!!). It appalled me to learn that the way these guys work is that they poke around on fuse blocks with a light looking for the particular signal (door open, parking lights on, whatever) that they need to connect to, then just tap into the wire. It's very haphazard. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Dec 1998 13:27:46 -0600 (CST) From: Frederick Carney Subject: Re: MR2 Pulleys On Unorthodox's homepage they dyno'd a 300zxTT with a pully added only with no increase in psi. I checked the MR2 site and didn't find too much conerning these issues: 1) Is the K&N FIPK a good choice for an aftermarket intake? I realize it's not "cold air" but anyway... 2) What do you do about the AFM? Does it connect to the top of the new filter apparatus somehow? 3) What "connector" unhooks the AFM from the top of the air filter box? I know NOT to unscrew the screws and disconnect it this way. How do you get it off? 4) Will I get error codes or something with an aftermarket filter? Will I run too lean if this is my only mod? P.S. This list has been extremely helpful to me and thank you all for the advice. Thanks, Jason (full-o-questions) 91T ===================================================== Hi Jason! 1) most people seem to use K&N cause you can keep cleaning them... i'm not sure if their the best in flow though... 2)You connect it to the afm which in turn is connected to the pipe that leads to the intake manifold. 3)?? 4)In my knowledge the Filter mod will not endanger anything or cause any error codes...it isn't sufficient of a mod to run too lean... Hopes this help... P.s. i don't know too much about AFM cause NA's don't have one... Rami 92' NA: K&N w Akimoto pipe Gutted Cat Mr.2PP Cams Advanced timming Mr.2pp TB w Match ported intake. (sorry for the aggressive tone) Come on guys piece it together...if you had a product and you wanted to sell it wouldn't you post the dyno example with the absolute highest horsepower gain? 30hp GEEZ..there is no way l I'd believe that without being there. I'm looking at their web page right now. I don't see any dyno charts. Didn't SCC make a whopping 3 hp on project 200SX with a pulley? BTW their project Conquest looks like a joke...geez guys take a little time to replace the front airdam instead of slapping stickers on... Their Supercharger pulleys might be great, but there is NO WAY you are gonna see 30hp on a 300ZX just by slowing the accessories down 25%. Come on people..THINK How much drag do accessories really make? Heck, go pull the belts off you car, take a short drive and see if you can FEEL the difference...I doubt it. BTW my old roommate has a set of Power Pulleys on his moustang...it overheats in Houston traffic. I had a crank pulley on my 85 Vette (cost under $70..not the OUTRAGEOUS price that Unorthodix charges). If there is a car that could possibly show a power gain from power pulleys its a C4 Vette. It has A/C, alternator, power steering pump, water pump, and smog pump all driven off the crank pulley. Guess what I didn't feel any HUGE power gain...but the voltage dropped so low at idle that it set an ECU failure code and caused the check engine light to come on. Also regarding the volume sensor I think it's useful. No-ones ever tried to steal my car though so I can't really say. Basically it works like this. There are two zones, when the outside one detects motion, it will chirp softly for 10 seconds.. If there is still motion after 15 seconds or so it will go off, the interior sensor will go off anytime it is violated. I think it's the best feature (except maybe window rollups) especially for t-top owners. But yeah, as they say if a theif wants your car he'll get it. I seem to see more tests that say foam does a better job both with flow and with filtration, of course that could be because more aftermarket companies sell foam filters.. (Like that new accel one) Anyhow I've heard both people with K&N's and people with foam filters say they've seen dirt in the intake tube. I haven't (with foam) And I think a lot of motorcross racers use K&N among others, but my feeling is they're about the same. There's too many people using both types and complaints and praise on both sides that I think it can't possibly be one group of people that are all wrong. What would be an easier task than using the Camry V6 would be if I could use an I6 since it would be a much nicer fit. If anyone has any ideas on a Toyota I6 (no I don't want to turbocharge and I don't know if the non-turbo supras even used the same engine as the turbos.) If they did however this would be a great help. I need a little input about what sorts of parts I will have to have fabricated to get this on the ground. I know I won't my stock tranny so I figure a rebuild will work with the proper gears being installed. Those to be determined later. I need however a list and approximate cost of what I need to make or modify... ie. new exhaust manifold, throttle body, fuel rail and what sized injectors to use, etc. What my lack of *real* automotive knowledge is missing. Please I need input. Hopefully my Xmas bonus will be able to cover my expenses but I don't want to just start this project and keep finding all these new high-priced parts that I need. Low priced obstacles can be tolerated. Planning this out is essential. Who knows... I might have a claim to the fastest naturally aspirated MkII when this is done.
