I was following a Boxter (what a pleasant experience) for several miles on my way home last night and it got me thinkin.. I am sure that everyone has heard what a treat the boxter is to work on, not just because of the mid engine, but because the only access is from below. The reason for this is not *entirely* that today's Porsche engineers are sadists, but that the soft-top stowage resides above the engine, with proper heat-shielding of course as well. Why am I babbling? Well the MR-S will have the distinction of being one of three cars (I think that is right) available today that has both the mid-engine and a soft-top. Further distinction being that Ferrari and Porsche are the other two makes. Yes I am finally getting to the point... Does that mean the MR-S will have just as much limited access? I haven't seen one yet. Any one who has, have you seen the engine from above the car? lino 92 turbo "Lucretia" 76 Landcruiser "Matilda" ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Apr 1999 10:52:15 -0500 From: dkchal@datasync.com (Donald K. Just for gee whiz, the price for a new supercharger is $1600 (at least the last time checked). I dont think that price includes the plumbing nor the intercooler... Another whizzy thing... the front housing gasket is $50 (just a big o ring) Lower compression pistons, mount.. Your computer couldnt handle it, especially seeing how it cannot control the SC. It would have to be on full time. I doubt your stock NA tranny could handle the extra power. The best way to do it is either buy a SC car or build a NA car but you better be ready to put more money into it, and time. You could always go with a aftermarket computer to control everything, such as the beloved Electromotive TEC II. Then of course youd want to beef up your engine too to handle the extra power. If you want a project, go for it but if you want something fast and easy, forget it. Roger S. Prior 89SC > I have an '88 MK1 supercharger that I wanted to install on my '90 Jetta. > > Mint Condition. I'm not sure were you can find the replacement lamp assem, but I can tell you how to put it in: Need a philips screwdriver First, click three times on the headlight handle and the pop-up lights will go up, and then click 2 times back down to shut the lights off, and leaving the pop-up lights up. Now pop open the hood. Go to the pop-up headlight that doesn't work and you'll see a black housing with 2 screws and each side. Unscrew all 4 and set them aside. Pull the housing forward and down to get it out. You will now see the headlight lamp with a metal housing that hold it into place. This metal liner has 4 screws total, 2 on top and 2 on bottom. Carefully unscrew the 4 small screws that hold the metal liner. They may strip and that would not be good. Once all screws are removed, take the metal liner off and the headlight lamp is free. Pull it out a little to reveal the plug. Just unplug it and you're set! [ ViSit ThE EdGE ] THe EdGe
