Kerry Woods did infact design and have a custom IC to TB inlet pipe built to allow the GReddy IC to be used with the TRD rear strut brace. I was lucky enough to get in on this deal so I have one. (No, you can't have it ;) Although I've never had time to test the theory, I always thought that there might be enough room to move the GReddy IC mounting a bit lower to clear the TRD brace without affecting the air opening too much. I'd love for someone to prove this right or wrong... Geoff '91t, 271,200km ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Jun 1999 23:39:15 -0400 From: "Roger S. Id like to use them for street and eventually auto cross racing. I dont mind having to get them welded on since I know a few people that can do that for me.. I think going with the coil overs will give a bit more clearance also for the bigger tires. Thanks Roger S. I see the Carrera's running for about $88, which looks like each, and the Ground Control's are about the same price range. Does one really need 13 way adjustability? I mean if you know that you are running on a type of racing you all ready have your suspension set for it. Like if you are into drag racing, you set it up with the proper springs, etc, alignment just for drag. I havent yet gotten into racing my MR2, so I havent really learned all that much about suspension tuning.. Guess I should go buy some books or something.. Roger S. I got a call from Loren over the weekend and the final tally for the server was $2263, which is now firmly stamped onto my MasterCard. What do I need from you? MONEY! :) The store is $10 from profit (not counting whatever was raised at DCII - hint, hint), so if you would be so kind as to adorn your desks with mugs, cars and homes with decals, keys with keychains, and pencils with tins, I can start to pay off the balance. Donations are, of course, welcome also. The bottom line to this is that MR2.com now has its own server, as does the list (or I think the list is on the server now....dunno for sure). The server is paid for regardless of whether or not the balance ever gets paid, so enjoy! On another note, I was out of town for the weekend and came home to find a much improved digest. Well done, listers! When the fighting stops, this is actually a good place to be. I'd like to thank Steve B. for offering up some of his parts cache as server fodder, and Ken Blake for donating a big handful of MR2 keychains that his local dealer was hoarding (I hear some of these keychains were sold in DC...hint, hint). I'll provide periodic updates of how the payoff is going. Im wondering if this would help cure the Mk1 problem with front wheel shimmy. I also like the idea of going back to a 5 bolt wheel pattern, then there is many other available parts that could be used over the Mark1. Roger S. Prior 89SC ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Jun 1999 23:10:48 -0500 From: "David Hawkins" Subject: mr2 93T maintenance - the big one! Howdy folks. I just got back from a trip in the 93, and it's time for the big maintenance. At 66K, I know I'm fine, but I don't like to take chances with the timing belt, so it's being done. At the same time, I'll be doing Water pump oil cooler seals cam seals front crank seal magical mystery turbo hose that fails and you can never get to coolant flush tranny fluid replacement (MT-90 according to a past list discussion... the car has LSD, and 5th has become almost impossible to get out of without a 50 lb tug at the stick) rear wheel bearings valve cover gasket I've already read Jeffrey's article twice (thanks, JHS!!!) and will be reading through it again before starting. Are there any tasks that I've listed above that it works best to have the SST? I know that for most applications, you can substitute, but are there any where it's a MUST? I got a list of prices on them from OTC, and those suckers are EXPENSIVE ($700 in tools to do rear axle bearings!). As for the rear wheel bearings, I'm doing both, but at Tommy G's suggestion I went out and turned the car in each direction at moderate speed. The thrumming noise went away in left turns, so does that mean the right wheel bearing is the bad one? It would be the one that is loaded in the turn....In right turns, there's no change in the sound. I've been ignoring the noise for about 10K miles now and the car is getting almost unbearable on the interstate. I've got to get this one out of the way so that I can start on the Esprit...oy. If you really want to help put a stop to this, I first advise you to share your information in a concise manner with the Better Business Bureau. If it is agreed that this company is involved in truly *illegal* activities, you should write your state Attorney General. Next, once you've assembled and organized the facts to support your case, consider contacting the sites he advertises on. If you can prove they are engaging in *illegal* (vs. immoral, questionable, or sleazy) activities, some of them may drop Winslow. www.winslowenterprises.com is available (just checked via internic.net), so this would probably be the perfect address for your little informational web site... Be careful- state everything in a factual manner, with proper disclaimers, and you may want to seek legal advice before degrading their name. Lastly, you may find a newspaper or TV station in your area interested in your story. If so, your investigating and legal issues could get some serious help. Regards, Andrew P. Love the car, and the list is USUALLY great. I've never been charged a cent for all the technical help and the deals have saved me lots of money buying NEW upgrades for about half price and fixing things myself. This is the time to help out, no one individual should have to pay for what we all use. EVERYONE can afford to help. Every donation, no matter how small will help. He is the deal - I WILL PLEDGE $50 and all I want is one coffee cup (I already have three). The rest can go to profit. I CHALLENGE ALL to give what you can, match or better the offer. I know some on the list are Students who don't have a lot to spare, but $5 or $10 will not break the bank. Just think how much you have spent on all the upgrades, this is probably one of your least expensive investments.
