They have a web site at: >http://www.speedlab.com/ I've got a sneaky feeling we're going to do a little bit better than that, brother John. I don't know if anyone else is poking around, but this thing certainly looks promising on my end. Hey Steve: Do you have an announce mechanism for the SC registry? Is there any possible way you can spam the SC Registry on this Cusco Group Purchase. We've got to be able to get more SC's somehow. There must be more. Where could they be? Thus far, 20 seems to be the magic number... But, if we could round up 30 solid SC's, this group purchase would make effing history. If you have a spreadsheet of everyone on the Registry, perhaps we could call SC our guys who don't have email. Perhaps they would like in on this, too. I can fax directly out of email... so if we have guys out there without email, I could easily forward all this stuff we're talking about. If there's anything we need to do, let me know. Guess what? I saw an SC Tuesday night here in SoCal. He was getting in the northbound 405 at Sherman Way around 11:15pm. I tried to run him down, but couldn't. Real fine looking SC. Beautiful Charcoal color (I really like that color). I wonder who he was? If I could have caught up with him, perhaps we could have had another guy! But my daily driver's too slow. I just couldn't catch up. Also, I sat out there on the on-ramp today, waiting for that guy a the white SC that I see going the other way every day. But I didn't see him. He must have phoned in sick today. I'll try again tomorrow. And, you know what I just thought of? I should have thought of this before: We need to purge Geoff Seeley's Guest List at MR2.com. I've rifled through there from time to time to help people find there way onto our listserves. I've found solid people there, before. That's what I'll do! There's got to be more people somewhere! - -Sammy, '88 4AGZE PS- Sure enough, dimes to dollars, right after we do this thing, 50 brand new SC guys will suddenly pop out of nowhere and subscribe to the list. Silo - ---- From: "Craddock, Shane E" I'm trying to determine if my TVIS is faulty. Car is a 91T jap spec. My vacuum gauge connected b/w VSV and actuator shows : 1. vacuum at idle as per BGB 2. zero at around 3000rpm, not 4200rpm per BGB VSV is functioning correctly per BGB. On the road, the vacuum gauge shows zero for 95% of the time. It only reads vacuum during idle and up to 2500-3500rpm. So when there is zero reading on the vacuum gauge the TVIS is open and both runners flow ? This means that 95% of the time both my runners are open ? Or is it the other way around, vacuum indicates the TVIS is open and both runners flow ? Go buy some "belt dressing" from an auto parts store. Spray a small amount directly to the inside of the belt. If you do this while it is running to get an even distribution, please don't get your hand caught in it. That would certainly prove imbarassing when people asked how you lost your fingers. That stops mine. Well for a while. The belt can be glazed from being loose and from slipping, and then it will not get enough friction on the pulleys. This is particularly true of serpentine belts as opposed to v-belts. John DR. John M. Hoyt / AKA Warren Peace - amicon.net SysAdmin WarNPeace - irc.BeyondIRC.Net NetAdmin - C-Link! I've isolated it to either the alternator or the water pump. At shutdown(turning off the engine) I get a whine-moan. I fear that it may be the bearings in either the water pump or the alternator. It could also be a belt adjustment. Does anyone have any idea or similar experience? I can repair virtually anything on the car if I need to. I'm just not in the mood to change a water pump or alternator if I don't have to. I'm sure that everyone else feels the same way. If anyone can shed some light on this I'd appreciated it. I wish I could describe the sound better. I guess whine-moan states it best. It starts out at a constant tone and lowers as the engine stops. Almost like an eeee-aaaw. I wish I had recorded and attatched it as a sound file. I have to call the adjuster by 11:00 AM Jeff, After all is said and done with the insurance company and they are ready to cut a check, tell them you would like to buy the salvage from them. They will sell it to you for aprox. 1/4 of what they give you cash. I am not familiar with your state, but in Arkansas, if you buy the salvage back, you get to keep YOUR title. No note is made on it. It never changes hands. In california, it is a different story, the insurance company takes assignment of the title, and then signs it back to you, SALVAGE, and you have to deal with DMV. Either way, if the car is fixable, and you like it, buy it back by all means. If not, you will still probably be able to sell parts off of it to make your money back and then some. You do not want to buy your car back if it goes to a salvage pool (an auction) as there will be dealers there with a list of cars to buy, and will probably be willing to pay more than the salvage costs to you right now. Besides, you would have to find out what salvage pool or wholesaler your insurance company sends cars to, and would probably have to be a dealer to even bid. Good luck, sorry about your car, and thank gawd it wasn't the '2! John DR. John M. Hoyt / AKA Warren Peace - amicon.net SysAdmin WarNPeace - irc.BeyondIRC.Net NetAdmin - C-Link! That is a bit strange, mine always shows the close loop bounce at idle. Maybe there is a problem with your RW monitor. Have you checked all your connections? > At hard acceleration it goes full rich and if I keep the acc. pedal steady it > will go back step by step towards leaner but at cruising I usualy do not get > stoich, I get closed loop bouncing. At hard acceleration, my monitor shows full rich also, and 100% injector duty. At crusing, I get the closed loop bouncing, but only below 3200 RPM. Above this RPM the monitor is steady at either the first green, or last yellow LED (according to the instructions, this is Stoich, but the printing under the lights shows 14.7:1 is near the middle with the red lights). > Is there a way (beside dyno tuning) to determine if the A/F is right? > > Silo > ---- The dyno does not tell you if you have the right A/F ratio, it only tells you how much power you are making at a given RPM. The only sure method to confirm your AF ratio is with a Horiba AirFuel monitor, but they cost thousands of dollars. The RW monitor is good enough for what it does, which is to let you know when you're running too lean (red lights). Beyond that, it really doesn't help much. If you have a boost gauge, an EGT and an A/F monitor, you have everything you need to prevent you from destroying your engine (unless you ignore the readings). However, if you want accurate tuning, you need a dyno and possibly some other tools to get the most from your engine. - -- Phil Cutajar mailto:solo2_mr2@geocities.com http://www.mr2.com/OWNERS/PhilCutajar.html ------------------------------ End of mr2-digest V2 #3371
