Im not familiar with cam2 but anything that is even close to 109 is going to be a leaded fuel--incompatible with your mr2. Ive been using straight union76 100 octane for a year now and its awesome stuff. The highest octane ive ever seen in an unleaded fuel is like 106 but its VERY bad to use this stuff in a street car because its chemical properties are unfreindly to fuel lines ect. Its really designed for all out race cars like the toyota atlantic cars. >Is there a downside to running cam2 (109 or so octane) I used to run this in my hurricane and >noticed sizeable increases in torque , not mention the sweet smell that I have grown to luv. >Obviously at 4 bucks a gallon it would be only a few gallons mixed with premium for racing. Prior" Subject: Re: mr2 some more project pictures My interior didnt get burned, I caught the fire early enough where it only damaged the stuff in the engine bay. I had one of those small extinguisher right behind my seat, damn handy.. I found a complete harness kit cheaper then the factory harness just for the engine bay, and the original wires were getting kinda cracked up too. They do have some shut-off valves, especially for roll-over or a accident. You can hook up a manual switch too, especially if you do any type of racing. I recommend that its either a mechanic valve or a electronic one that is only open (supplying fuel) when there is voltage. That way if the power gets cut off either by the wire breaking or the driver pulling/pushing the switch the fuel flow stops. It might not stop a fire from starting but will limit the fuel feed to the fire. You take one element out of the 3 from a fire and it will stop. For daily drivers I wouldnt recommend any exterior type of switch but if its a race only car that might be a good idea. That way any rescuers can shut the fuel off, kinda like the switches they have for the battery power master switch. After I get my car built to the way I want Im going to install a fire suppression system in the engine bay, which uses the newer Halon. You can get them either mechanic or electric with push/pull configurations. Good insurance for a expensive investment. Roger S. Prior 89SC > Well, sorry to here about your interior. Prior" Subject: Re: mr2 wheel width vs steering geo. question I have 15x7 on my car and having had any problems with geometry, or algebra for that matter :) About the only problem is the tires rubbing the fender flare. That can be fixed a couple of ways, one person recommends using a baseball bat and a jack. Jack the car up where you can place the bat between the fender the tire, then lower the car slightly so you can roll the bat to push in the insides of the flare. Another way is to use a ball peen hammer to tap the flare in. This is where the inner wheel well skirt mates up with the fender. Mine only rub during real hard hits, and then it only rubs slightly on the skirt screw heads. I havent bothered with rolling in mine yet though.. by the way my tires are 205/50. Roger S. Now you can always go with the bolt in Garret T04e upgrade from Toyomoto. They take the Exhust housing off a CT-26. bore it out and fit it onto the T04e turbo. Great sounding idea. Unfortunately they have NEVER had it on a running engine. I was speaking with them to try and get one for my car, BUT they wanted me to pay FULL price, for an UNPROVEN product. They keep telling me "we flow benched it". A flow bench is NOT a running motor. The CT-26 exhaust housing was designed for a smaller exhaust wheel. There are things like A/R ratio that cannot eaisaly be modified. Will it crack under the extra weight and stress from the larger turbo? These are things i really dont know about, but i am not going to learn the hard way. Personally i will not pay $1000-$1500 for a turbo that may not work properly. So i passed. If someone gets one of these installed, i would like to hear about it. I want one. Just not willing to throw away that much money if it is not going to work right. I hope it will, because it will be cheaper than a custom setup. Then, what does a custom turbo kit cost? $2500? Just my 2 cents Mark Hall '92 Turbo > > At 09:00 PM 8/30/99 -0400, Dean M.
