Mike Moran I recently purchased a 1985 MR2 in rough shape. Presently restoring.
Mon Jul 1 11:50:30 1996
Dan Ross New MR2 owner - picked up a 1986 for $800.00!! Engine runs GREAT, and it needs some minor body work (new emblem, replacement license light, etc. Couldn't believe the guy would part with the car so cheap, but, as he said, "It was a lot of fun when I bought it (original owner), but now I need the family car". He bought a Ram Extended Cab Pickup. Sheesh, from ultra tiny to ultra huge.

Michael McAvoy I've had my '86 for over three years now, and I still love it. It is a red, non-supercharged one, with over 150K miles, and only a custom exhaust. I took it to the Woodburn Dragstrip on Oregon last weekend, and ran a 16.2 @ 84.2 MPH! I even won 1st in the bracket racing competition, somehow! Now, I'm thinking cams... :)

Joel Grospe 130 MPH and still rising on Interstate 40 with A/C on, a 200-lb
friend passenger on a 115 deg. F day! This we did to pass a friend
traveling a constant 80 mph just to see the effect. Whew! This is just
one of the MANY stories that my 92 MR2 Turbo and I can tell you.
I'm gonna keep this one because this would always be the LATEST MR2
body model here in the U.S. With it's looks, power, handling,
and price, I can't think of anything more addictive. I might add that it's almost a SIN to own one of these. MR2s ANONYMOUS,
anyone?
Thu Jul 4 07:25:18 1996
Hal Douglas i absolutly love the mr2...i also applaud your effort to archive information on the mr2...my ultimate goal is like many people to acquire a 93+ turbo outfittedwith componets from greddy, hks, C's, eibach, and fittapaldi.....oh yeah..its got to be yellow!!

Phil D. Glad I found your site! I have an '86 (red) with 115K miles
-- bought it new in '85. It's interesting to see many of us
share similar repairs (like transmission popping out of 5th gear).
We survived a run-in with a tractor trailer at 60mph on I-10 in
Tucson last year ($3000+ in body work, though!)

Allen Brand *Ahem*...my names' Allen Brand, and I have a secret. I'm addicted
to that four-wheeled bundle of ambition I call my MR2. At first it
was just an occasional drive, but then it got-*gasp*-too much fun!
I'm in therapy now...but still find myself asking, "Oh where oh were

drowning here...in limbo. Please, oh please someone help!

MIKE MCGUIRE I own a 1987 white MR2 with 62,000 miles. It is the best sports car
I have ever owned. The prior owner did have a couple of minor fender
benders, but the worst sin is that she drove it all winter in the
Chicago area, and let rust start. I am looking for a few body panels.
If anyone has any parts for sale please e-mail me and I will let
you know specifically what I am looking for. Thank you.

B.Pepper
I am interested in the possibility of swapping engines between different years and models of MR2's.
I presently own a 1985 MR2 that is in perfect condition... aside from the fact that it is on it's second
motor. I don't expect the new motor (w/ 25,000 mi) to become a problem soon, but should it ever need replacing,
I would like to try something with a little more horspower... like the 1988 surpercharged, or the '91-'95 supercharged.
Has anyone already tried this? Does it work? I know that I could find some way to stuff a Chevy V8 in there if I wanted, but
I'm really not anxious to start cutting on the framework or body of the car. I would like to think that the '88 engine would be a perfect fit...
and hopefully the '91-'95 wouldn't need *too* much modifications. If anyone has already tried this, looked into it, or thought about it in any way,
PLEASE E-MAIL ME!! Thanks.

Joe Aquilina I really enjoy your web site. I have a 91 Mr2 Turbo and it's as much fun to drive as the first day I brought it home.

Jason Carr Just purchased an 1986 MR2 and looking to restore her back to top
condition. I need info on problems to look out for & correct early.
I would also greatly welcome info about fixing up the struts on the
car. Ive been told that you can replace the whole strut (not w/spring)
or you can just replace the "cartridge"? Another MR2 owner informs me
that they are all quoting me a "cartridge" replacement price???
Any help in clarifying this issue would be a great help!!
P.S. Replacement suggestions would be greatly welcome as well.
Thanks, Jay

Spiros Dimitratos Got an 85 after all; rear sway bar works miracles and the car feels like a poor man's Lancia 037. Haven't been airborne much yet though... Can't wait to put some Pirellis on; other than that, even the stock handling is predictable, fun, and brisk. Good little car - more laughs than a barrel of monkeys. Anyone with tips on rallying mods like cages etc?

Matt Swaney I have an "88" Supercharged MR2. I have a CB in it which helps with the fuzz factor when rolling down the highway. My handle is Pocket Rocket. I have 80,000 miles on it and the only thing which I have done to it is basically put gas, oil and tires on it. Wouldn't trade the little care for the world, besides it might be a collector's item one day. Plus I don't know where to get that much bang for the buck. I just found this page and think it's great. I'm also looking to beef it up a little more and any suggestions would be appreciated. Ya all take care. Chat with ya later and happy highways and corners cause their fun with Mister 2.

Russ Binder Sales Engineer at TRD. I am interested in asking the MR2
owners/enthusiasts about new products they would like to see.
We are interested in meeting the needs of our customers, but we need
to know, as precisely as possible, what those needs are. Please feel
free to drop me an email with your comments and requests. Thank you,
in advance, for your help.

James Neptune I owned an 86 MR2 while I was in college. I have always wanted an 89
Supercharged version every since. Finally, I found my car ...
89 Red Supercharged with only 29,000 miles and in mint condition.
I will never sell this one!#mr2_events
