Tue Oct 1 1:7:13 1996 Frank De Salvo You all have my sicerest appreciation, respect, and loyalty. Though I don't own one yet, I will.
Tue Oct 1 13:12:23 1996 Mike Scott I am hoping to purchase a 93-94 MR2 in the near future. I had an 88 that I had to sell when I bought my house. A truely big mistake. I really enjoyed my mister two. It was more fun to drive than my 90 Eagle Talon Tsi-AWD!!!! (Which I also sold because of the house).
Tue Oct 1 17:22:16 1996 todd klosnick (t.k.) Mr2s rule. proud owner of an 87 dark blue mettallic. minor wreck but still great.
Tue Oct 1 17:41:25 1996 MATTHEW WONG
Tue Oct 1 19:12:7 1996 Joe Della Barba I have a 1993 MK II NA with about 90,000 miles and a 1976 Mercedes 300D for a work/dog car. I put about 200K on a 914, so I am a longtime mid-engine fan!
Tue Oct 1 22:42:31 1996 Matt T. Benjamin I am 17 yrs old, just bought my first car, a 1988 MR-2, t-tops, non-turbo, metallic blue, 5-speed, 88 thousand miles. It's a great car!! I blew away my friends honda prelude, smoked a grand am. and the girls love it. All in all it was the best $5200 i have ever spent.(well, the only) only complaint is there is a slight rust prob popping upon the rear fenders. other then that it's perfect!!!
Tue Oct 1 23:27:36 1996 Scott Alexander I have a fully loaded red 1993 MR2 Turbo with black leather interior. It is the only car I've had since June '93. It had 31 miles on it when I bought it, and now it has 82,000 miles. I've driven it across country, I've commuted in it, and I've taken it up to Lake Tahoe at least 50 times. I've got a great picture in front of Squaw Valley after a day of skiing on July 1, 1995 with my MR2 with T-Tops off and my skis sticking out of the top on the passenger side. I've never had a single problem with the MR2, and the more I drive it, the more I love and respect it. I've just ordered a new Jeep Wrangler, so my MR2 will be retired to pleasure only because I want to keep it forever. Some day I'll be an old man, and my MR2 will have half a million miles on it! Once I pay it off (June '98), I'll repaint it, fix the 3 door dings on it (those bastards!), and see if HKS level 4 really does add 80 HP's to the MR2 Turbo! Let me know if you hear of any MR2 clubs (especially autocrossing events) in the San Francisco Bay Area!
Wed Oct 2 4:2:17 1996 Zack Don't have an MR2, but I wish I had one.......still,I can't complain; a 1986 Toyota Corolla Seca with a 20 valve 4A-GE will just have to do for now........8)
Wed Oct 2 10:50:3 1996 Earl Wheaton I have an 86 and am very happy with it. I guess if I had a custom plate it would be 8MGSL8R. I do have a small problem with the O2 sensor but have gained good info off the mr2 pages.
Wed Oct 2 11:21:9 1996 scott ellis I own a Black 1991 Toyota MR2 a friend owns a 1991 Yellow MR2 and we will be looking for upgrade parts and specialized services. We would like to be contacted by other owners and clubs. Thanks for the page.
Wed Oct 2 12:12:18 1996 Daniel Larsson Hi Love this site. I have a -93 Turbo with K & N filters, superchip and HKS EVC.The engine gives away 260 hp. I wonder where I can get smaller and more aerodynamic mirrors, the standard ones look crap and are to big. Please if you know, write to me!!!!
Wed Oct 2 12:15:7 1996 jeremie kerns I have a '91 MR2 Twin Turbo t-top and I love it
Wed Oct 2 20:5:53 1996 Freddie Adamson This is really a neat page. I'm not an MR2 owner but am buying a 1993 Sprinter Marino. I hope that I can still use use as a resource.
Thu Oct 3 0:34:5 1996 Neil Grenning I've owned an 1986 MR2 with the standard 1.6 liter engine until it got stollen and I now own a turbocharged 1991 MR2. I'd like to upgrade the engine with a HKS turbo, Greddy fuzzy-logic boost controller, an Akimoto Ram-Filter 2, and a Cat Back exaust. I hope this discovery of the MR2 website will help me find out if these proposed modifications will give me the power I want under the . . . hood?
Thu Oct 3 12:1:32 1996 waylon binkley My mother has an mr2 and I love it it is a 1987, and red. I beg her for it when I turn 16, but shge won't let me even buy it from her,she says it's,"not safe because there is no protection in it, and because it's five speed and I have not gotten used to one yet.
Thu Oct 3 16:56:50 1996 Robert Allred I own a '91 MR2, non turbo which I bought new, one of the first in Utah, red, w/5 5speed & T-tops. It is absolutely stock, and has 37,000 miles on it. It has been a great car which I still enjoy!

Fri Oct 4 19:42:50 1996 Ashvin Babu My 88 dark blue metallic S/C just got broadsided today :(. Some asshole ran a red light. Some front suspension damage-- mostly cosmetic--bodyshop guy says frame looks straight. Insurance assholes think the car might be totalled based on a book value of $6500. It needs a new front fender (pass side), door, rear fender, both bumper covers, and a front spoiler. I just don't think it's fair that they could hand me a check for 6k when I can count 2k worth of parts (perf etc.) that I have put on the thing in the last year and it wasn't even my fault. Anyway I am done whining and am leaving the computer lab to drive home in my rental MUSTANG (noooooooooooo!). Please let my car not be totalled.
Sat Oct 5 1:14:7 1996 bill rhine If anyone can give me more info on aftermarket ''hop-up'' parts please send some info to home address. 834 quentin rd lebanon pa 17042 I HAVE A 91 MR2 AND I WOULD LIKE TO DO MORE TO IT. THANK YOU.

Greatings from BELGIUM.
Sat Oct 5 12:9:55 1996 Doug Gray Own a 1991 MR2-Turbo. Requset technical advise from on using amps with my new audio system. The amps pickup a high pitch from the power steering computor. Ready to have amps and equalizer removed if help can not be found. Local Toyota dealers and professional installers blame car design and will no longer try to fix the problem. Any assistance will be GREATLY appreciated.
Sat Oct 5 14:28:49 1996 Alejandro De Janon I bought a fully loaded MR2 1991 Turbo with 29K miles on a month ago. I live in Panama (Central America) and there are only 5 of these car in the country. Sun Oct 13 19:33:40 1996 Chris O'Malley Hello, I'm new to the Net and MR2's, I have FINALLY gotten my wife to allow me to look into getting and older MR2, and have started looking (85-89 models, $2000-$4000). My problem is that I'm 6'-4" and have trouble fitting. Don't tell me to get something else because it took us quite some time to agree on the mk1 MR2. It appears that the seat could be moved back on the rails about 2 inches which would still allow me and my wife (5'-4") to both be able to drive. Is this possible or is there another way? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chris O'Malley omalley@texas.net (home)

Mon Oct 21 6:39:36 1996 Michael McAvoy I have an 86 MR2, and I still love it. I am planning on building it for racing, but I would like to keep it street legal, too. It is stock with only a custom cat-back exhaust. I am interested in cam, header, and intake information, as well as suspension tricks. Another signer, "Alan" (didn't leave an email address!) shares an idea with me. Has anyone ever put a V6 engine into an MR2 before? I probably won't actually do that, but... :)

It was imported from Japan earlier this year. It cost me NZ$6500 and has only 48000km on the clock. I have since added 15" Protech alloys, 205/50/VR15 Toyo T1 tyres and new Monroe gas shocks, but I need more speed! Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get more power, and where from in this corner of the world?

Wed Oct 23 8:41:12 1996 Andre Menard I own a MR2 1986.
Wed Oct 23 8:50:41 1996 Daniel I dont have a Mr2 anymore. I crashed my -92 Turbo yesterday. The witnesses couldnt believe that I was actually alive.I must thank the airbag and the seatbelt.Im very impressed of how the front of the car was not more trashed than it actually was.And Im even more impressed of the coupe it doesent even look that its been in an accident beside the airbag hanging out. After the crash the car landed upside down. The T-bar roof was broken(the glas) but the t-bar was still intact.I must wait now for a month to get money from the inssurance company to buy a new car.The problem is that I cant buy a Mr2 cause they dont sell them here in Sweden. So I must go down to Germany, which put me in another difficult situation. In Germany I can buy a NSX or Lotus Esprit Turbo for the same money as an MR 2 TURBO. So I think I will go with the NSX(sorry).
Wed Oct 23 19:18:9 1996 Kenneth Tam I used to have a 92 MR2 non-turbo one. And I crashed it on 11th October, 96 in San Francisco. "Total Loss" I miss my MR2, it has only 52K miles on it. I really miss it. And my MR2 is a dark blue one. Poor Kenneth!!!

Wed Oct 23 21:25:46 1996 Jeff Eveler October 23, 1996. I am the proud owner of an '86 MR2 that I can finally drive! Last November it was totaled 2 blocks from my house, taking out the complete driver's side. After an eternity of waiting, (11 months) and a bit of custom body and interior work, I now proudly drive my dream car again.
Thu Oct 24 4:54:13 1996 Ronnie Frederick It was a pleasant surprise to find this site - me being an avid fan of this truly enjoyable sports car (MR2). There are only about 15 MR2s left on Singapore roads unfortunately or FORTUNATELY.....as I get all the attention when I drive mine. However, the scarcity of its numbers here (for whatever reasons) and its effects on parts, sound mechanics and enthusiasts means that I would love to be part of a network that could potentially help me to hang on to my pride as long as I can. So, thanks for what you have done. Happy motoring!
Thu Oct 24 10:42:51 1996 Todd Klosnick WANTED: 91-94 TURBO WITH T-TOPS.

Fri Oct 25 23:33:29 1996 Joy Sewing I owned 1991 black model, but in 1995, I was hit by a Lincoln Town Car (her fault), crushing the front of the car nearly into my lap. What kept the window from caving in on me was a 75-pound sandbag that I kept in the front to keep the car from sliding during bad weather. I literally cried. The MR2 was the best driving and best performing car I have ever owned. In it's place, I purchased a 1995 Honda Prelude because I couldn't find a MR2 at the time. The Prelude is a good car, but I miss my MR2. I'm now looking for a 1993, 1994 or 1995 model. (I'm in Houston, Texas) Thanks. Great site!

Sun Oct 27 6:11:54 1996 Daniel Hirsh proud new owner of 1991 white turbo with 77km. only concern is that the engine lid doesn't pop up and the two rear speakers seem very low. otherwise great!
Sun Oct 27 9:13:40 1996 Owen Rogers Great idea! Anyone with ideas on modifications for first-generation MR2's can write to me... PLEASE!!! Also looking for used-rebuilt supercharged motor!
Sun Oct 27 18:27:43 1996 terry piazza I own a 1986 MR2 with 189,000 miles on it.I have owned several other mid-engine cars (fiero,914,fiat x-19) and find the MR2 to be the most enjoyable of the bunch.I plan on keeping the car until I blow it up,which I suspect will be sooner rather than later due to my total lack of respect for it's age and miles. The car still endures 7500 RPM shifts with alarming frequency. The replacement will be a '88 or '89 supercharged version,as I have never quite warmed up to the second generation MR2. I have driven several (I buy cars for a large dealership for a living) and the 2nd generation cars have lost some of that "go-kart" feeling that makes the early ones such a kick.

Thu Oct 31 17:2:56 1996 SULTAN MURAD I'M A PROUD OWNER OF A 1991 MR2. THIS CAR IS A POCKET ROCKET, AND I'M IN LOVE WITH IT.
Thu Oct 31 19:51:48 1996 Brian I am the proud owner of two MK I MR2's. Original owner of Black '86 with 220,000 km, and lots of rust!! (rear wheel arches, rockers). Recently parked it to use for parts car after purchase of red '85 (imported to Ontario Canada from Florida - no rust!!)with 160,000 mi. '86 was a great winter car, especially w/ 4 skinny 13" Sears ice and snow radials. I am interestes in high mileage maintenance problems experienced by other MK 1 owners. ie: transmission ('85 5 speed has bad synchro's in 2nd & 5th, & is driving almost exclusively from the right side) alternator ('86 has had brushes and regulator replaced twice due to corrosion, and has it's second fully rebuilt unit, the first was not a genuine Toyota unit and it literally burned up). It is snowing today, and I really do not want to expose my Florida car to its first salt, not to mention the traction problem with only heavily biased drive. I need a second vehicle for winter cause my wife won't. let me have her AWD Previa.
