Wed Jan 1 15:38:44 1997 Matthew Benjamin Well, I did it, wrecked my mister2. 2:10, new years day, driving to someone's house with bad directions and a bad navigator, steve yelled, RIGHT! I turned in and all was going well until I hit leaves and slid out of the turn and head on into a tree. The whole front end is destroyed, it would cost much more to fix it than it's worth. selling it for salvage right now. I might get $1,000 out of it. Anybody got a 88-89, MK1, t-top in midnight blue? for around $4,000? breaks my heart man.

I am told by my dealership that they cannot find any in the country. I want this particular one because it precabled for installation into the existing electrical system. Tue Jan 7 13:16:55 1997 Mike Grubb Bought my Crimson Red '91 MR2 Turbo new in Nov '91. Now have 98,000 enjoyable, troublefree (except for new metal around the front end after my wife parked it UNDER a Chevy Corsica) miles on it. Paint is faded and power antena quit working a couple months back. I have retired the vehicle now, only to be driven 2-3 times per month and plan to upgrade performance and add new paint as money permits. This is one GREAT car!

I'm basically trying to see what I can expect as far as failure items. So far the window washer motor has been the only problem I've found in 62,000 miles.

Mine has over 220 000kms having had only basic routine maintenance in its 10 years and its as fast and fun as it ever was. The MR2 rightfully has a track record and owner satisfaction index most HEAP domestic 'sporty' car owners can only dream about.

Sun Jan 12 3:24:20 1997 Mark Davis I just purchased another MR2. I lost the first one when my wife ran the car off the road on our way home from San Diego to San Francisco. I now know what happens when you put a hot catilitic(sp) converter on very dry grass. Within minutes the car burned down to the grown. It has taken me months for searching to find another 86 in the close to the same condition as the one I lost. I can't believe how many people tread these wonderful cars so badly. I think the car is one of the best sports cars on the road for the price and although I do like the new body style of the later models, my faviorate will always be the original body style. I am looking for an MR2 club in my area. I live in San Bruno, CA that is a small city outside of San Francisco.
Sun Jan 12 4:29:3 1997 Greg I have a (89) MR2. I love the car, but it's not a winter car. Resently flooded, now it runs like shit. I took it to a Toyota dealer and they must have messed it up. It sat outside after bieng broken into (at the dealer, while it was bieng fixed) for 3 days in blizzard conditions, -50 below 0 with wind chill. 5 inches of snow inside the car. I am sueing the dealer. I like the car, but it doesn't run very good.

I have Greddy exhaust, K&N air, boost controller, Nology wires, HKS sequential blow off valve, Greddy turbo timer, Repco metal master pads, EIBACH pro springs, Suspension Techniques front swaybar and bushings, and Tokico adjustable struts. The price is uncomparable, and the competition (i.e. Nissan 300zx; Mitsibishi GTO; etc.) for price and performance is left choking on your tyre smoke. And I have yet to see any MR2 (either MK I/MK II) that doesn't have all the bells 'n' whistle's! TOTALLY AWESOME!

Sat Jan 25 15:7:11 1997 Dave Williams I just bought an 85 MR2 with 116K miles. The weather has been too cold to find all the "opportunities" but I know it needs new struts. What should I look for regarding the power train, and what do you recommend for suspension? The right front sounds like it's going to fly apart when the brakes are applied - I'm guessing I have a slightly warped rotor doing it's thing on a strut with no bushing left. I'm thinking about getting into auto crossing but showroom stock would be fine. All input is appreciated.

Wed Jan 29 21:1:52 1997 oas i would just like to say that since i "inherited" my MR2 from my brother, it's been nothing but trouble. but i love it!! i purchased an engine from japan with the factory 10.5:1 compression which came with a small port intake "gts" 4ag head. my future plans include a complete build up from AED in corona, ca. i expect to hit 180 mph range soon naturally aspirated. i currently run a stock 4ag with a pair of weber 40dcoe's and the fastest speed i've hit is 145 mph. i have purchased bigger carbs which will go into the engine being built. wish me luck.

Thankyou for your wonderful web page, it helps keep me sane during these long 5-6 months! I try to drive my 88na Mr2 when the roads are cleared but this winter that has been tough. I keep my 95turbo named Daisy(she is solar yellow with black leather) locked up until all of the salt is gone. I go visit her a couple times during the winter just to sit in the car. Yes, I have a bad case of the Mister 2 bug! I wear yellow just to remind myself that summer is just around the corner. Again, thanks for the cool web page.
