Sun Jun 1 2:17:3 1997 Michael Corsini I've owned my 86' MR2 for over 1 year now and I love it more than any car I've ever owned. I have every option including the complete spoiler and ground effects package....but it is a stick of course. I work on the car at least once a week, tweaking it and making it run as sweet as it can.....which is pretty sweet I might add. If anyone has any tips for me or knows of any good sources of parts and accessories...especially performance parts, please let me know.
Sun Jun 1 11:5:57 1997 Jon Rossello

Tue Jun 3 15:15:14 1997 Christy Stout I'm a big fan of the MR2 and it's nice to know that there are other people out there who are enjoying their MR2's. My fiance & I own a black '91 with t-tops. We've had it for over 2 years and still love it as if it were brand new. Before this car we had an '86 MR2 which was also alot of fun but wanted a newer one. We compete "pro" in car audio competitions with our '91 and it does real well. It sure turns alot of heads!

Tue Jun 3 15:28:45 1997 Keith Quistorff Great Website! I spent the last 3 months searching for the best sportscar I could afford with intentions of getting involved with autocross. This website convinced me that a MKII Turbo is THE CAR. Just bought a loaded, nearly pristine '93 and LOVE IT! The car is so nice, I'm almost afraid to autocross it, but, what the heck, that's why I bought it.

Wed Jun 4 15:46:8 1997 Cory Haines A friend of mine in Japan just told me that Toyota is probably going to cut the Mr2.. What then is going to happen to the mrj???? You know, it sure was sad that all Americans cant enjoy two seated rear wheel drive Japanese sports cars anymore, but do the Japanese now have to suffer too? Come visit my website---My address is http://www.modernperformance.com If you have ever gotten that urge to let all of the wild horsies under your hood come free and tear apart the road, then youve got to visit my site. Thu Jun 5 0:33:41 1997 Robert Edmands I love my 1991 Turbo MR2.- However, back in April 1997, just 4 months after I bought it, I decided to take a road trip from Indianapolis down to the Lexington KY area to do some camping. As I got near Lexington, dark fluid started to flow from the rear of the car. I thought it was oil at first and wondered what could possibly be going wrong. I later found out it was the cooling fluid which all leaked out when one of the cooling lines apparently rusted through. This car had only 60,000 miles on it. The Dealer in Lexington told me he had never seen this before!! I was stuck in Lexington for 3 days as the parts were not available at site. Now I am BACK IN BLACK- (actually in RED) and the MR2 is performing beautifuly, and I am left shaking my head as to why such a critical part of the car failed so early!- The car was garaged every night for the first five years of its life-I know this b/c the owner was my father!!--I actually trust this guy!-Bob

Thu Jun 5 19:10:32 1997 Wilfred Lum I need help. My girlfriend is not very tall & when she drives her 1993 MR2 she sits very close to the steering wheel since she can't reach the pedals w/o the seat moved up. I am afraid she will suffer injuries should the air bag deploys. Any ideas where I can get pedal extensions so that she could move the seat back & sit at a more safe distance from the air bag? Has anyone else had the same problem?

Wed Jun 11 14:52:10 1997 Wendy Schryburt Greetings to all MR2 owners and wannabees - I last signed the guestbook back in 1996 and I thought it was time once again to pay hommage to my soulmate, uh, I mean, my car. She was born Apr 1986 and I have had the extreme pleasure of owning her since 1987. Yes folks, you counted right, 10 years and she's just as exquisite and undaunted as the day I got her. With repairs not exceeding $2500, you could say I'm fairly pleased. Am I in love? Definately!! As a long term owner, am I tired of her? Bite your tongue!! Do I wish to upgrade to a MKII? Maybe in another 10 years!!

Mon Jun 16 23:10:37 1997 ron oh yeah, has anyone heard of transmision or shift cable problems w/ MK 1's, mainly popping out of 5th under load & grinding into 2nd & 3rd? Installed updated 5th gear parts & replaced trans... still the same. Streched forward cable? Only problem in 98K of very hard driving. Holding shifter in 5th under pressure while driving really sucks.

Tue Jun 17 9:12:28 1997 John Coombs I haven't been on the Internet long, but the main reason for getting on was to view this MR2 site. I have had my grey MR2 for nearly 3 years now and previously owned a red 1987 model. I am obsessed with these sports car, especially since mine has been highly modified. It's one of the greatest feelings in the world to have the T-Tops off, find a twisty piece of road and let the mid-engine sing near the rev limit (through a throaty dual exhaust) while the high performance tyres grab the bitumen and the car rewards you with the exhiliration of superb roadholding and handling.

Sat Jun 21 2:1:36 1997 Mike Nakis I myself have always been fascinated by the looks and perfomance of the MR2. Toyota has had two of the most incredible sports cars on the market: The Supra, and the MR2. I myself own a MkIII Supra and am a fanatic. I also love the MR2. It is one of the best handling sports cars out on the market. I hope to get one in the future so I can have IMO two of the best Japanese sports cars ever. Does anybody know if they will start selling the MR2's in the USA again? This Webpage kicks ass. It's got loads of info on the MR2. Too bad the Supra page isn't as informative and well organized as this one.

Sun Jun 22 8:34:28 1997 Joe M. I own a white 93 mr2 turbo that I race both drag and autocross. It's horsepower output is right at 300 horsepower, virtually still stock, including the turbo. I am running the boost at about 15psi. It runs a 13.25 at 105mph in the quarter mile.Everything I've done to increase the horsepower output have all been low cost mods. I've put less than $500 dollars into the car.

Tue Jun 24 18:44:47 1997 Tricia Brown When my MKI Supra was in the shop once, I had my Ex's MKI for 3 days. I was hooked. People just don't know if they've never driven one. I remember the first time I saw a MKII. And when I sat in one. And 13 months ago I bought one. It's corny but it's changed my life. And I thought no one would notice . . . WRONG! Everyone does. Driving it is like being a celebrity. A bunch of people at work bought new cars right after me, and my jealous 67 year old parents bought a white 95 Camaro with T-Tops to try to keep up. Well, I found this web-site. I'm amazed at MR2 culture--maybe I ought to join a club or something. I want my '91 to live forever!

Thu Jun 26 23:56:52 1997 aw115agpwr I HAVE A FIRST GENERATION MR2. TO SAY THAT I LOVE THIS CAR IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. CURRENTLY I HAVE A 5AG MOTOR WITH A GTS HEAD FROM JAPAN USED IN THE TOYOTA ATLANTIC SERIES. COMPRESSION HAS BEEN BUMPED UP TO 10.75:1, THE HEAD IS PORTED WITH HKS CAMS, ONE PIECE SHIMS, TITANIUM RETAINERS, STAINLESS STEEL VALVES, AND DUAL MIKUNI 44'S. THE BLOCK IS BASICALLY BULLET PROOF. IT HAS A CRANKSHAFT FROM A SUPERCHARGED ENGINE (THE JOURNALS ARE BIGGER), CARILLO RODS, AND HIGH COMPRESSION PISTONS. THIS CAR DOES 11.02 1/4 MILE @ 130 MPH WITHOUT NITROUS AND ON STREET TIRES. IT IS ALSO A DAILY DRIVER WHICH GETS ABOUT 18 MPG. THE TRANNY IS BASICALLY STOCK BESIDES HAVING SYNTHETIC. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, HONDAS DON'T LIKE ME TOO MUCH. GREAT WEB SITE!!!!

Fri Jun 27 16:0:42 1997 B. Ferguson Just got another '87 a few weeks ago (69k mis.), Sold the red one (145k mis.) to a friend in Atlanta. Just had an incident though... I just paid $40 for a bolt for my exhaust (installed free). Why would toyota put a stupid bolt on the manifold so that it could back out, drop off and make your car sound like a Harley!?? Almost melted my throttle cable. Still liek the car though. I'm eyeing a '91 red auto. w/sunroof as a 4th car. Signed, Car poor BoB C-Ya!
Fri Jun 27 19:20:38 1997 Steve Brandon This is my first visit to this site, and I am staggered by the abundance of useful information it contains. Best wishes -- Steve

Sun Jun 29 11:16:35 1997 Nikki Fawcett LOST IT IN WET WEATHER - Can't believe it. First signed in on this Website in March, just over 3 months ago, excited about picking up my car. About 10 days ago, I was involved in an aquaplaning accident (16 cars in all) on the M5, and completely totalled my Mark II MR2. Lesson to be learned, despite the traffic moving slow because of the bad conditions, those meaty rear tyres will still take a swim in areas of bad road surface water! I'm so proud of how my car stood up to no less than 3 major impacts - front, rear and passenger side - I'm telling you, it was a scarey time. The big questions is... what do I buy next? Another MR2 - no doubt about it. Any car that can take that amount of damage and still protect the driver to the extent it did, deserves all the praise it can get. So, I'm now in the market for another one. Any advice on where to look would be VERY much appreciated. They're beautiful cars - and not very common. Spec: Black, or Dark Blue Metallic, T-Bar, Air-Con essential. '91/'92 or newer. Please help! The most upsetting thing was that I'd only ever either power washed it, or (occasionally - I know the damage it can do) took it through the car wash. I don't think you really bond with a car until you wash it by hand - That was my plan for the very next day!!! If only...
Sun Jun 29 16:8:54 1997 J.R. McCullough Had a white '91 non turbo that I sold with much regret. Now buying a '91 turbo. Life is good.
Sun Jun 29 20:27:30 1997 Brad Warvel I am interested in chat's and postings on repairs.
Sun Jun 29 20:32:59 1997 Tony Berggren Glad to find this site. It's going to be interesting going through it. I have a series 1 MR2 that could be a lot more fun if I could solve a couple of (related?) problems: - the revs limit at 6000 in any gear - the car stalls at idle when the engine is warm. The fuel filter is OK. I have a suspicion about the air flow sensor (making the mixture too rich????) Any comments? Regards Tony
