Sat Nov 1 03:06:22 1997 nathan jodar (cam1-100.calweb.com) wouldn't it be nice if the mr2 weren't the worlds most underrated sportscarand held thier value better?
Sat Nov 1 04:04:33 1997 John Stallion (ww-te62.proxy.aol.com) I own a 1986 Toyota MR2 with an automatic and California emissoins. I am rebuilding the engine and preparing to use the drivetrain and suspension components to build a dune buggy. Anyone who has done anything similar to this, dial me up and give me some pointers.
Sat Nov 1 08:38:32 1997 Shawn (usem.com) Nathan, No way!!!!!!!!! The more MR2's drop in value the better, that just makes a 1995 model get closer to my price range. To the guy with the '88 supercharged...try out a larger supercharger pulley, air cleaner and throttle body from Mr2Performance Parts in Boulder Colorado (listed somewhere in this webpage).
Sat Nov 1 10:28:32 1997 C. K. (ww-tr03.proxy.aol.com) I own a 1986 Toyota MR2 and decided to look it up on the internet to see what information is available. If you would like you can E-mail back with any suggestions or comments.
Sat Nov 1 13:38:16 1997 Kandrew Callender (barpm6-9.caribsurf.com)
Sat Nov 1 16:45:59 1997 Andy Simmons (pm02-49.chattanooga.cdc.net) I currently own a 93 Mister 2. Upgrades included an HKS Power Flow, KVR crossed drilled rotors, metal master brake pads, 17" TSWs shod with NITTO NT 501 EXIT GTs, Eibach lowering springs. My future plans are a GReedy Exhaust, Nology Plug Wires, MSD ignition, head work done by JG Engine Dynamics and larger throttly body by RC Engineering with the addition of a Nitrous Dry Fogger kit, and a clutch by TRD or Clutch Masters. I have for sale a set of 93 Mister 2 Factory alloys I need to get rid of. If someone out there needs these which are in excellent shape please e-mail me...................THANKX
Sat Nov 1 19:58:24 1997 David Strachan (A44.reach.net) Watch for rally mr2 (group 2)in '97 Rally of the Tall Pines, Nov. 22. Will air on TSN (delayed coverage).
Sat Nov 1 21:59:47 1997 Neil Reilly (dyna145-192.acadiau.ca) We have an 1985 red Mk I MR2, and love it to death...plan to buy a '89 supercharged if possible some day... Great page...keep up the good work!
Sun Nov 2 00:14:23 1997 Andrew (ww-th66.proxy.aol.com) I love this site! Thanks! I am now the proud (very proud) owner of a 1987 MR2 NA....nice dark pink :-) thanx for giving a great car the attention it deserves
Sun Nov 2 00:15:12 1997 Jon (ww-ta06.proxy.aol.com) I would appreciate if you send me more information on the MR2. Like clubs, books, etc. I have e-mail you a couple of times and no response. So please help me out
Sun Nov 2 01:04:30 1997 Ron Serocki (ww-ti63.proxy.aol.com) I have a gun metal gray 88 automatic. Hope I can drive it forever!
Sun Nov 2 05:03:16 1997 Jeremy Whitehead (proxy.teksupport.net.au) I'm President of the Victorian Branch of the Australian MR2 Owners Club How are you all?
Sun Nov 2 08:56:05 1997 Jim Yanowiak (proxy-111.iap.bryant.webtv.net) I am the proud father of '92 cherry red MR2. I've had my Toyota for a little over 4 yrs.... and I love it. I stumbled on to this website while looking for discount parts. I have found it very difficult to get info on my Toyota ever since they discontinued the MR2. This has been a very informative and helpful site... thanks a bunch.
Sun Nov 2 10:25:15 1997 Matt Follett (ppp783.on.bellglobal.com) Hi! I first said Hello back in Sept. I own a black 91 turbo, and my Mom owns a RED 91 turbo. After driving mine, she said "find me one!" Anyways both of us have experianced the same problem. An obivous break in the power lead to the #2 fuel injector. On both ocassions I simply jumped it back to the fuse box for power, problem solved. But seeing it happened to both of ours I was curious as to wether anybody else had encountered the same problem, and short of replacing the wire harness how they fixed it and were exectly it broke. Anyhow till next time DRIVE HARD.
Sun Nov 2 13:48:03 1997 MIKE STEVENSON (am058.du.pipex.com) MY MR2 IS THE DOG'S B!!**?KS
Sun Nov 2 14:06:40 1997 Allen (proxy3.nyc.prodigy.net) I have a 1987 MR2 with 82.000 miles and love the little car.
Sun Nov 2 16:34:13 1997 Chris (134.71.50.47) Nice job. I own an 87 MR2 that is semi-modified, but I'd like to know more about the aftermarket for this MarkI.
Sun Nov 2 18:50:19 1997 Jason Lanier (onuser23.eee.org) To all the people who were having problems with rough idling. My MR2 never had any problems until gas prices started going up. I filled my car up with 89 instead of 92 octane twice and felt the effects for a month. The idling would go from smooth to rough, from fast to slow. I started putting 92 back in the car despite the prices and a few weeks later the car returned to its beautiful hum. I haven't had a problem since. The MR 2 is the best car on the road.
Sun Nov 2 21:31:49 1997 Casey (shadow.safeplace.net) This sight is fantastic! I've wanted an MR2 since I saw the first model in '85. Then I saw the mark II, and read that it was in the top ten best handling cars in the world ( 1991) and decided it would be my next car. I am now the proud owner of a '91 dark red MR2. I got a non-turbo however because of my student budget. I'm finding out though that discontinued cars are hard to find parts for at a reasonable price: like struts. The local toyota dealership wanted $565.00 for just my rear struts. I think I'll take out another loan.
Sun Nov 2 22:47:36 1997 Dave Nguyen (ppp-052.houston.wl.net) I'm a sixteen year old Who own a 91 MKII MR2 Turbo. I love this car. I love it when my turbo kicks in and gives me that extra power of boost. That's the only reason I drive it for fun. I can kick those V8 domestic cars butt.
Mon Nov 3 04:42:15 1997 Tadashi Nakayama (performa.noc.ntt.co.jp)
Mon Nov 3 06:08:22 1997 Shawn (usem.com) Casey, don't do it!!!!! Buy aftermarket replacements for any part that you need, don't be going to Toyota for the broken parts. For the same price as your "stock" rear struts, you could have the very best aftermarket adjustable struts. I love Toyota, but the price they put on things is a crime. Oh, Shame on anyone putting 89 octane in a 3SGTE!
Mon Nov 3 11:18:29 1997 Dennis Watson (ts14-06.ott.iSTAR.ca) I have an '86 MK1 and am thinking about buying an '85 for some parts. The '85 is sound, but the body is extremely rough and rusty. Just wondering... Does anyone know of 3rd party body kits that can turn a MK1 chassis into something really interesting? (e.g., Ferrari, Lamborghini, Moon Buggy...)
Mon Nov 3 13:42:44 1997 Steve Liu (ppp369.enterprise.net) Greetings from MR2 Drivers Club UK
Mon Nov 3 17:14:22 1997 HENRY MAINWARING (hmainwaring.wcu.edu) Guess what Andy Green drives besides the Thrust Land Speed Record Jet Car? (763.035 mph fast enough for all you gearheads out there in cyberspace?). Some superbike and a Mister 2. Wonder what model he has?
Mon Nov 3 23:27:45 1997 D K Chalfant (osp55.datasync.com) Bought a '89 Supercharged (red) in July. Most fun I've had (in a car) in a long time. I like to do most of my own work on my cars, so a good set of manuals wouild be nice. CD rom would be nice so as to download select pages when necessary. Are they available?
Tue Nov 4 01:47:12 1997 Tue Nguyen (dialup1-37.umkc.edu) I have a 91 MR2, In a magazine I've seen a integra that has the tail lights of a 95 MR2...I was wondering how hard it would be to do the same to my 91 MR2
Tue Nov 4 13:11:35 1997 henry mainwaring (hmainwaring.wcu.edu)
Tue Nov 4 13:14:37 1997 Mike Chou (F182-171.net.wisc.edu) Has anyone put in the mr2PP cam in their 91-95 NA? I'm curious just how much gain there will be. I called and got an estimate of 20hp, but what can I expect? Anyone? Thanks in advance.
Tue Nov 4 17:15:45 1997 Kirkos Dimitrios (proxy4.metronet.de) Yellow MR2 Mod. 93 60k Km

Wed Nov 5 08:16:50 1997 Kevin (host-209-138-4-223.bna.BELLSOUTH.net) I have a 1985 mr2. Gold in color. 130.000 miles on body and 15.000 on engine. I believe it is the best sports car around. It dosen't not handle well in the snow
Wed Nov 5 11:55:51 1997 Russ Bond (spc-isp-tor-uas-8-13.sprint.ca) I own an 87MR2 that is now the 4 speed version {for the second time }. I also raced with the Toyota Atlantic series in 1996 that use a base MR2 engine. I am looking for flared fenders both F&R but as yet have found no source. Great site keep it up Thanks RB
Wed Nov 5 12:43:10 1997 Darren (dialups-155.kalispell.ptinet.net) I have owned a 86 MR2 for 7 years and have 201,000 miles. Best car I have ever owned. I hope I never have to get rid of it !!!!
Wed Nov 5 13:03:15 1997 Steven Peters (131.30.202.62) I have a black 87' that is in need of new paint. I need to know where the paint code is located and what codes indicate what colors. If anyone has this information please e-mail it to tacklebarry@rocketmail.com, thanks.
Wed Nov 5 13:22:43 1997 Simon Roe (ww-tc62.proxy.aol.com) Best car in the world, especially Dark Blue Mark One T-bars :-)
Wed Nov 5 15:00:39 1997 susan leathery (customs.proxy.lucent.com) '93 MR2 owner, I have the car which I purchased as a demonstrator so it's loaded, about 3 years. I've owned lots of cars, including a Fiat and a '61 Triumph, but this is by far my favorite.
Wed Nov 5 15:02:59 1997 Gerald B. Carlson (s86-222.bloomington.k12.mn.us) I have a 1993 black toyota with 7,000 miles on it. It spends the winter months in the garage away from the salt on the Minnesota streets and freeways. Not a scratch on the car as it is pampered like a child. Love that car and thoroughly enjoy the summer months with the MRII.
Wed Nov 5 20:38:59 1997 DIANE BAKER (ww-tr05.proxy.aol.com)
Wed Nov 5 21:42:34 1997 Chad (gs5.cinti.net) I was wondering if anyone out there has upgraded a 2.0 NA engine. I don't mean air cleaner or spark plug wires. I mean pistons, cams, lifters, or any head milling. Also, what kind of HP could I possably get from one that has been upgraded (but still street driveable).
Thu Nov 6 00:09:28 1997 Kevin Liao (1Cust30.max13.los-angeles.ca.ms.uu.net) Do you know that there are actually THREE versions of MR2? Do you know the fact that 94-95 MR2s have a different chasis and body, also a 20 more horse power? You should look it up!
Thu Nov 6 05:30:20 1997 Holger Diebold (ics2F.F.srv.t-online.de) Hello outside... I´m driving an 1996 Mr2 with 175 Ps - Does anybody made experiences with a kompressor-kit on this machine? Every other information about a kompressor-kit would be very nice! Hope I get some answers - free roads Holger
Thu Nov 6 11:54:11 1997 Tim Thurber (ww-to05.proxy.aol.com) I want a Mk1 MR2
Thu Nov 6 12:55:08 1997 nitrous (bhd1-s14.mtl.colba.net) Hey guys! I was in the process of looking for a MkII MR2, but now I just saw the NEW MR-S. Did you guys see it? It's on the cover of many car magazines... Anyway, it looks like a cool porsche boxter, and it's gonna come out in 1998, and it will be priced starting around $19,000. So I don't know anymore; should I wait a year or two and get the MRS or should I get an 1993 MR2-Turbo for a bit more than half the price of the MRs ?? nitrous11@hotmail.com
Thu Nov 6 15:11:42 1997 Terry Heick III (ncc-d4.it-ncc.louisville.edu) I'm planning on buying an '85 MR2 to restore and enjoy. Seems to me this is becoming somewhat of a collector's item, as well it should. I also own a '92 turbo, and, needless to say, I'm hooked. A few questions: I have 17" rims (235/40/17) on my 92, and have heard about the horrors of driving an MR2 in the snow. Ihave $2000 rims, and to protect them (and the rest of the car) I'm considering 14 or 15" OE rims w/ snow tires for winter (Louisville, Ky.) Is this wise? Also, when restoring MKI, should I replace all parts with OE (incl. springs, shocks, exhaust, rims, etc.) If I'm going to have to rebuild engine anyway, should I go w/ aftermarket pistons, rings, cams? I don't want an undriveable, stiff race car, but if I replacing parts anyway, why not go afternarket? Do you feel my internal struggle? Do you care? Basically, in your opinion, which parts should I retain OE, and which ones should I toss for aftermarket parts? I've built an '87 Toy FX 16, and am in the middle of '92 turbo. I don't want to ruin my '92 or '85, but speed is so addictive! My '92 handles like a Ferrari! If you care, please give your opinion. I NEED HELP! Oh yeah, Fier- are garbage. Why even argue the point?
Thu Nov 6 16:33:29 1997 Gerard (PSE01.PIOS.COM) I need help please!! I live in San Jose and I want to turn up the boost on my 91 Mr2. I already have an HKS exhaust and airfilter. Now I want to put in a boost controller from Greedy (the manual, I need to watch the pocket book), a fuel cut off defencer and a boost gauge. Can someone from the area with experience in upgrading please give me a hand? Please e-mail me at velceleang@pios.com. Thanks
Thu Nov 6 16:55:26 1997 Darryl D'Sa (socpc16.erin.utoronto.ca) The MR2, built by the Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan, is in my opinion the ultimate sports cars. It's really too bad that they are no longer produced in Canada (Bad decision Toyota). If they were produced I'm sure Honda's Civic Si, and Prelude sales would go down the drain. Toyota, I love what you do for me. MR2's kick ass!!! Bring on the competition, Celica's and MR2's forever will rule
Thu Nov 6 17:08:41 1997 Chris (ant-2.saultc.on.ca) Hi, Great Web site. I like the MR2's but love the Pontiac copy. If I had the cash I would buy a MkI MR2. Keep up the good work.
Thu Nov 6 17:22:49 1997 Sam Vassallo (hgt-as2s27.erols.com) Looking to find a supercharged car for autocrossing. Hope this site can help.
Thu Nov 6 19:03:43 1997 Wes Moore (abeln316b.unl.edu) I have recently became serious in buying an MR2 ('91-'94). This web site has been EXTREMELY helpful in getting all the information I need to make my decision along with what to look for when buying. The information and pictures that are available is overwhelming. I hope to be getting an MR2 real soon, probably through the classified page that is incorporated into this site. As soon as I get it, I'll be sure to contribute to the page.
Thu Nov 6 19:23:51 1997 Pat (ww-tc66.proxy.aol.com) I own 2 MR2's a87 and a91-turbo
Thu Nov 6 19:40:31 1997 Brian Habich (node241-16.dorms.db.erau.edu) i have a '91 NA and im currently in the process of rebuilding the engine. Im getting the head ported and polished with a 3 angle valve job, boring the block 20 thousandths, decking the block, HKS airfilter, and maybe getting a custom header and flowmaster exhaust, and maybe even shaving the flywheel for better throttle response. If anyone would like to hear about the difference from stock, email me in about a week because im going to get my car back in 3 days!!!!!

Sat Nov 8 17:23:25 1997 Keith Buras (gtwy.sea.siemens.com) I have a 1991 MR2 Turbo. I love the CAR. Having a slight problem. 5 different times over the past 15 months the car has left me stranded. It will turn over, but won't start. I can't smell fuel and I'm pretty sure I'm getting spark. Recently replaced both the main relay and ignition relay, bucause I was told they have a tendency to stick sometimes. Problem persist after change. Haven't found anyone to solve problem. Would like to fix myself before I spend a fortune at the dealer. Already replaced drive belts, timing belts, rotor, distributor cap, plugs, plug wires, fuel filter and a few others too. If anyone has had the same problem or could offer help, PLEASE email me. I have added a high flow air filter, FCD, and Mr2 Performancer Boost Controller as current mods. I'm looking into custom exhaust, ignition upgrade (previously had Jacobs, but kept failing, could be from current problem), fuel system upgrade, intercooler/fan upgrade, and finally NOS kit. Anyone has any suggestions on my or any other future mods, please email. thanks

Sun Nov 9 21:30:40 1997 charlie (envoy.idirect.com) I used to own an MR2 in the summer time. I gave up on it because of some problems and bought a Supra. I want the MR2 back. My Supra doesn't rev even remotely close to what the MR2 can do. There both 87's too. I drive the Supra and it feels like I'm in a truck sometimes. MR2's are so much more fun. Anybody want to trade?
Sun Nov 9 21:39:57 1997 Ed vanNimwegen (207.179.5.211) My first mr2 was a 85. My current is a 93 Turbo. I race in the Utah region SCCA and had six 1st Plsce and a 3rd place finish. I participated in the "Pony express 100" open road race. I entered the 110 mph. and averaged 110.011 mph which was good for first place. I intend on moving up to the 125mph class in 1998. It's a fun race and a good match for the MR2 top end. If any one is interested please feel free to contact me.

Wed Nov 12 06:52:41 1997 Steve (ww-tm04.proxy.aol.com) I own an 87 MR2 in very good condition and am interested in performance upgrades. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it, I also need to get a paint job and need to know where to look for a good one. Email me at Skane1234@aol.com
Wed Nov 12 11:38:15 1997 Larry Crozier (dial31.mer.cioe.com) I owned a 93 MR2 (bought new) but in a moment of stupidity, I sold it and bought another car. Now I am in the process of purchasing an 87. This I will keep forever.

Thu Nov 13 10:56:05 1997 BEN GREGG (134.53.237.76) I OWN A 1985 MR2, AND WANT IT TO GO FASTER!!! I ALSO WAS WONDERING IF THAT MODEL WILL EVER BE WORTH SOME BUCKS. ANY SUGGESTIONS??
Thu Nov 13 13:35:55 1997 Shawn (usem.com) OK, everyone.... go down to your news-stand and look at the cover of the December Car & Driver for there you will see the answer to all of our questions about Toyota bringing the MR2 back to us. The answer is.... NO WAY! Looks like we are gonna get the MR-S. At first, I hated the little car because it looks like a poor copy of the Boxster, and it is a convertible (sort of like Toyota is jumping on this little "roadster" kick), and has absolutely NO storage (I can transport 16 extra large Pizzas and a girlfriend comfortably in my MR-2). BUT, it does have an awesome sequential gearbox (not that marketing crap modified slushbox-automatic that Dodges have) with both on the floor changes and steering wheel pedals (see: ferrari 355).Maybe they will put a decent engine in it (although it is considerably lighter than our MR-2's). Besides, all of our MR2's are starting to get old (mine has about 100,000 miles....Zero problems so-far, thank God!), the current gear boxes SUCK, and the T-tops make the cars all loose. Maybe I can keep my '93 and buy one of the MR-S's (hopefully someone will make a turbo kit for it). Up till now I've wanted a Lotus Elise... but Toyota makes a (usually) bombproof car. We all know what LOTUS stands for right? (Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious)
Thu Nov 13 13:56:44 1997 Garry Garrison (hlfx26-29.ns.sympatico.ca) Hi! This is a wicked page, though just about everyone says it!! Um, the MR2 is my dream car! Especially the first ones! The supercharged version was in 1988-89 right? How much power did they have? Oh, and if anyone wants to send me info, stats, etc. Please feel free!!! Anyways CyaL8r
Thu Nov 13 14:17:27 1997 Anne Griffin (as2-22.iaw.on.ca) A sad season to be sure. Along with the first snow fall comes the grim task of putting MR2 away for the winter. sniff, sniff. As wonderful as it is bringing him out in Spring it is far sadder saying goodbye for the long, dark winter. I'm spoiled after driving him and having him perform at my fingertips. Now I have to get into the coldness and clunkiness of my 1984 Olds and watch my gas bill quadruple. Ouch. Oh, but Spring can't come soon enough! A loving tribute to MR2, my handsome, faithful companion. I'll come and visit you and start you up periodically, if only to dream. Oh, how I'll miss you.
Thu Nov 13 16:39:19 1997 Mark Nelson (144.163.175.124) I can't believe my eyes!!!! EVERYONE IS PUTTING AWAY THEIR MR2'S FOR THE WINTER!?!? With the square wheel base, 45%-55% front to rear weight distribution, and all that power, the MR2 makes a great all-weather car!!!! (just don't go through the deep stuff) I live on the bench in Utah and drive my '88 Mark1 dream machine in anything under 9" of snow. I often pass up the 4X4's and have yet to get stuck! Don't put 'em away! Just wash them often so as not to get any salt build-up from the roads. Keep on driving your dreams! --Mark
Thu Nov 13 17:37:15 1997 Shawn (usem.com) Mark, I hope to God that you are right! Cuz here I am at work, it is snowing outside fairly good for the first time this season, and I have a 35 mile drive home in a couple of hours.
Thu Nov 13 18:18:49 1997 T.N (206.21.116.54) ALL SEASON DRIVER: 91 MR2 45k miles, modification included: HKS intake and exhaust, BBS wheel, Eibach spring, Tokico adjustable shock, Toyo tires, Catz fog light.
Thu Nov 13 18:59:50 1997 Anne Griffin (as2-35.iaw.on.ca) MARK NELSON. I totally agree that Mister 2 runs well in snow. My fear is the other guy. I don't want him slamming into me during a spin out caused by his carelessness. I have driven in the snow for 23 years now (accident free) and have seen all kinds of stupidity along with lack of respect for black ice, whiteouts and icy intersections. Another major problem we have is rust. We are 2 blocks from Niagara Falls (mist constantly creating ice = salt) Tons of salt. Mister Two deserves better weather.
Thu Nov 13 20:47:05 1997 Charlie (dnb-as1s11.erols.com) Own an 86 MR2. Wondering what is the best car cover to handle the cold winters in New England. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thu Nov 13 21:03:30 1997 Peter Nicholson (print2.works.waikato.ac.nz) As the owner of 2 M.R.2s one 1989 s/charged one 1990 sw20 injected Iam hooked!both offer different driving enjoyment These 2cars are the best performance ones Ihave owned.
Thu Nov 13 23:56:12 1997 Patty R. (ww-tm06.proxy.aol.com) Why do I feel like I've stumbled upon family? I bought my 88 mr2 new and have not once genuinely considered a new car. Mileage approaches 100,000. So far, I've converted AC to R-134a (It's hot here in Tampa), I've paid for a quality paint job (worth the extra $$), replaced the timing belt (broke around 80,000 with no engine damage) and fussed over a few odd things, like an interior light that died and seat levers that fall off, but, dang, I'm not brand new anymore, either. I absolutely love my car.***Two questions, though. 1) There's a bass speaker with its own box under the driver side seat. I removed it to have the speaker foam replaced. This is dumb, but I cut the wires cuz I couldn't disconnect the connector. Oops, the wires on one side of the connection aren't the same colors as the other side. Anyway, is there a good samaritan with an 88 mr2 out there who would be kind enough to look under the driver's seat and e-mail me with the appropriate wire color matches? This is kind of over my head. And 2) it appears from the archives that drippy T-tops is common. I had the door gaskets completely replaced and it still leaks where the T-tops meet the car, particularly at the outside corners. I'm wondering if the rubber strip on the actual glass insert is to blame, but Toyota doesn't sell that separately. Can anyone offer advice? Even if I come up empty-handed, it's really nice to find kindred spirits. Thanks.
Fri Nov 14 00:06:52 1997 Brad Holder (proxy-106.iap.bryant.webtv.net) My MR2 was an '86 2 tone(green/champagne). Got it brand new! I absolutely LOVED that car! Had everything...leather, s/roof, pwr wind/doors,cruise,cassette stereo, etc.Only probs were..warped rotors,p. brake freeze, pwr win regulators. Was the ONLY one in town with this color, and it always turned heads.I had it from 7/86 to 3/90. It was STOLEN from my driveway and was NEVER seen again! It was my FIRST car, and I MISS it to this day! Everytime I see one the color of mine,(which is very rare) I take a good, long, look!
Fri Nov 14 02:45:33 1997 John Cummins (syd1.edge.net.au) THIS IS A MAD SITE. IT HAS GREAT PICS AND INFO
Fri Nov 14 02:51:37 1997 Holger D. (ics1F.F.srv.t-online.de) HELLO THERE... DOES ANYBODY KNOWS SOMETHING ABOUT A SUPERCHARGER FOR OUR MR2??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Fri Nov 14 13:36:16 1997 Terry (ncc-k4.it-ncc.louisville.edu) O.K., first off, you guys didn't answer my question concerning the restoration of 85' MR2 (see above for comment) If anyone knows about a book detailing MKI restoration, care, etc., please leave message in guest book. Also, to Dan, don't modernize your car. Keep it real! You have a classic! Drive it that way! Be proud! If you want modern, get the '98 MR-S. To Keith, check your FCD for your cutting out problem. If its the HKS unit, they can sometimes be problematic (or maybe its FCD in general...anything created to specifically to overtake stock ECU could be troublesome) Get VPC and you don't need FCD. To Dayna asking about modifications, get headers (TRD), exhaust (HKS), and an air filter (K&N, HKS, GREDDY, etc.) And finally, to Shawn: I feel your pain! The "NEW mr2" (MR-S?) is exciting. The gearbox in my '92 turbo sucks and makes me look like I can't drive a stick. If the engine incorpoartes the new Toyota VVT technology, I'll be the first in line at Oxmoor Toyota to buy one. Later.
Fri Nov 14 17:18:05 1997 Arthur Turnbull (arthur-allan.demon.co.uk) I stay in Perth Scotland and wish to obtain details of any MR2 specialists in the UK. I have been searching the net for body kits and have found only distributors in the USA, can you PLEASE let me have at least one address here. I own a MK1 1985 Limited edition. Thanks
Fri Nov 14 18:43:03 1997 Sean Mercer (webgate3.mot.com) I have recently aquired an 86 MR2 with 211000km on the clock. Despite the problems common to aging cars, this is the most enjoyable car I've ever driven. I am hoping to eliminate most of the problems over the next few months and have some questions for anyone prepared to help. I have the steering rack thunking problem common to this car. I was informed by a local dealer that a replacement rack was the only solution. I have, however, seem reference made (on this site) to replacing the 'steering rack end bushings' for a parts cost of $30! Is the steering rack a repairable part? I have the Haynes manual that unfortunately ignores this issue. Perhaps someone can help me here. Also, does anybody have a set of the Toyota manuals for sale? Lastly, this is a really great site.
Fri Nov 14 19:02:05 1997 RON PARKER (host-207-53-3-160.atl.bellsouth.net) I own a 91MR2 turbo and my wife has a 91MR2 NA. Hopefully you guys can help me with a problem I'm having with misfires under heavy boost. I've done a few modifications on mine including greddy exhaust, turbo timer,mr2 performance boost controller,K&N filtercharger,HKS FCD,Nology Hot wires and coil amplifier. I've changed the distributor cap and rotor, tried NGK wires, new Toyota wires,NGK plugs,Bosch, Autolite, and Rapidfire plugs set at different gaps. I've also tried one heat range colder in those spark plugs. The car doesn't misfire all the time just sometimes under heavy boost. With a new set of plugs it runs great for a few days then the misfires start again. Looking at the plugs there is a carbon buildup around the edges of the plug however the electode is clean. Does anyone have any suggestions. thanks!!!!
Fri Nov 14 19:59:52 1997 Kevin Hobbs (ppp-207-104-139-16.sntc01.pacbell.net) Just started lookin' over this web site. So far, I've really enjoyed it. Just bought an 85 MR2 from the orig owner and I love it. This is my 3rd MR2 & they are really unique & wonderful cars. I'll take a MR2 over a Miata any day - just ask my wife (she drives a 90 Miata).

Fri Nov 14 23:01:32 1997 DJ Dubl-A-Ron (proxye1-atm.san.rr.com) I think I have the fastest MR2 Turbo in the world. It runs a flat 9 in the 1/4 mile. I have a dual stage NOS setup and two Garret Turbos. Also I have TRD drag cams and a carbon fiber air freshener. I'd love to race anyone in the world.

She is tight. She is exotic. oh my pretty Mr2. This will be the 7th year of our relationship. I got her home brand new from the dealer in August of 1991. She was a virgin when I took her for that first ride. Oh how beautiful That love-at- first-sight was. I love my MR2.

Mon Nov 17 04:38:14 1997 frank leung (o5.dialup.seanet.com) I am looking for a 91up MR2 turbo, do anyone went to sell there car I live in seattle if someone interesting sell there car get me a mail.
Mon Nov 17 07:22:42 1997 Neil Groves (gatekeeper.eos.elekta.com) I own a special import limited addition '94 super-charged MR-2. Tweaked cam profiles, air routing, suspension adjustments to toe in, and 17" wheels make this car quick. Approx 160mph. By the way, you can fit 235/30, and 215/40 tyres on this car with wheels of the right offset, such as TSW Venoms. Then the handling is far better in both dry and wet conditions, espescially with the toe in turned down 1 degree for the wet season! Good site. Any one any ideas on brake enhancements?
Mon Nov 17 13:40:03 1997 annie ng (librefpc16.calstatela.edu) i really love the 1995 MR2. i just think that it sucks that they discontinued the sales in the U.S. your web page kicks ass!!
Mon Nov 17 18:04:10 1997 De jiang (130.65.153.217) I own a 93' turbo for over two years. I have modified almost everything and now it does a 12.8 at the 1/4 mile. The latest thing i done so far was replacing the stock turbo with a HKS turbo. The streets is basiclly mine, I like to take out all Honda's because I hate all Hondas!and I likw to hand with the Mustangs and beat out them as well! The next modifacation is to up grade the dry manifold.
Mon Nov 17 23:45:58 1997 Earl Wheaton (ppp26.tminet.com) Just read the guestbook like I should have done before I asked the MRS question. I shall make it to the newsstand and pick up the Dec Car and Driver. Remember folks, don't prejudge. A lot of folks hated the looks of the early MR2 only to find later what a gem it is.
Tue Nov 18 01:44:55 1997 Thomas Bonn (proxy1.stg.prodigy.net) I am a 2 time MR2 owner, currently a 1991 turbo (red with t-tops, leather, and all options, 76,000 miles). It is a cherry car, pampered, straight, and perfectly maintained. Love it but want to buy a home and need to sell it. We just moved to Oregon and won't be online for a couple weeks, but if anyone is interested in our car we will consider selling it for around $14,000. We'll write back once we're back online email address will be BONN777@juno.com Thanks!
Tue Nov 18 05:35:45 1997 Shaun Obrien (sp-a02-pool-44.tmns.net.au) I have a 87 MR2 with a Tureno GTZ 4agze that I installed myself, however , does anyone know where to get a manual or a engine management diagram for this engine .It was the last gze type to be produced (and the most powerful),it runs MAP sensing not airflow metering and I think it was available only in Japan.
Tue Nov 18 14:17:00 1997 keith buras (207.69.195.203) Keith Buras (email: keith.buras@sea.siemens.com) I have a 1991 MR2 Turbo. I love the CAR. Having a slight problem. 8 different times over the past 15 months the car has left me stranded. It will turn over, but won't start. I can't smell fuel and I'm pretty sure I'm getting spark. Recently replaced both the main relay and ignition relay, bucause I was told they have a tendency to stick sometimes. Problem persist after change. Car won't act up on Mechanic. Can't find any codes in the computer. If anyone has had the same problem or could offer help, PLEASE email me. I have added a high flow air filter, FCD, and Mr2 Performancer Boost Controller as current mods. Anyone has any suggestions on any other future mods, please email (keith,buras@sea.siemens.com). thanks
Tue Nov 18 19:56:36 1997 Dan Bernard (pdx-tc1-25.triax.com) I'd like to know as much information as possible about upgradeing the computer in my 1985 MR2. I can't find information about it anywhere.

Wed Nov 19 21:20:46 1997 Tom (unknown-51-24.wrs.com) Just bought a 1991 Yellow MR2 Turbo, 19.7K miles - 5-spd, black leather, fully loaded - super condition! Pretty quick car! Coming from BMWs, takes a bit of getting used to this transmission though. If only I were back on the Autobahn in Germany with the MR2 - alas....
Wed Nov 19 23:03:58 1997 Brian Habich (node241-16.dorms.db.erau.edu) Well, i finally got my car back and its great. for all you that dont know, i blew the engine in my "91 NA and i just got the engine rebuilt. i got the engine decked and bored over 20thousandths with 20 over pistons, an HKS intake, ported and polished head with 3 angle valve job, and a custom FLOWMASTERS exhaust system. the car hauls!!!!! i love it. it sounds great and the pickup is remarkable compared to what it used to be. everything in the engine is brand new....i mean everything from the oil pump to the bearings. it more like a brand new high performance engine than a rebuilt engine. i would recommend doing this only if need because it is very costly. im having trouble getting gas money. email if you want to have any questions. Cya
Thu Nov 20 11:24:23 1997 jason parker (wsatkins.co.uk) I Got my first MR2 6 months ago after converting from VW Golf, Much more fun but all I want now is a set of second hand 15" alloys with tyres. Colchester Essex

Thu Nov 20 14:06:23 1997 Gordon Tyrrell (cache1.cache.iol.ie) Anyone out there able to tell me the real benefits of the HKS or Greddy turbo exhausts on a '95 GTS turbo? I'm about to spend but everything is very expensive here in Ireland so I want to be sure before I buy one that the benefits will be noticable. I got the boost up to 14.5psi recently and couldn't feel any noticable difference. Had to race my cousin (identical car) to see the improvement and it was all around 6000rpm on that there was a big increase in the performance. Any info would be appreciated.
Thu Nov 20 14:14:59 1997 Donald DiPaula (lao-tse.bbnplanet.com) I'm about to move from Maryland to Tucson, Arizona. I think that is all the justification I need to sell my Honda CRX Si and buy a rear-drive sports car -- an MR2. Right now, I'm gathering all the info I can on them to make sure that when I'm looking at cars, I'll be able to tell a good one from a bad one.
Thu Nov 20 15:34:44 1997 Dennis Bang (ppp22.kw.tele.dk) I´m the owner of a mk1 black T-top SuperCharged MR2 from ´88. I know from the web that there are different versions of supercharged MR2 engines (145-165hp)therefore I would really eppreciate if any of you guys or girls could tell me what kind of engine i have. On the computerbox it is printed 12.11.88 (?) but I have no information about when exactly Toyota upgraded the hp. I got the car from Japan, and this also might have influence on the hp-level. On the blow-off valve there is a factory sticker. I peeled it of and it seems like it has got a hole with a screw in it, but the hole is filled with hardened plastic. Now the question: is it possible that it is a screw for the psi-pressure to regulate at the Toyota factory when it is tested?. And if: is it possible to take out the plastic from the hole and turn the screw? I would also like any other info on the engine fx. how to get more power and what to be aware of when doing so. The MR2 mk1 is the, I think, only real MR2. I love my car truely, and yet no one has overtaken me and MR2 S/C on the road, not even the new Volvo S40 T4. Please mail me if you have any answers to these questions, looking forward to hear from any of you. Thank you.
Thu Nov 20 19:30:38 1997 kathy (slc202.modem.xmission.com) I drive a 1992 MR2 Red... I love it. Does anyone know why they stopped making them??

Fri Nov 21 10:47:37 1997 fiorenzo (async1.login.it) Since Feb 95 I'm driving, here in Italy, a 175hp red MR2 with great satisfaction. Bye-Bye
Fri Nov 21 11:13:47 1997 Alan Williams (198.49.31.101) Does anyone out there in MR2 land want more power ? they must because almost every entry in the MR2 guest book says great car , needs more power. There are may reasons to do a engine swap , the cost of a complete swap vs hot rodding the existing motor would be close. I built the motor in my Mr2 using stock parts and after adding everything up, I spent as much on parts ,etc as I could have bought the entire drivetrain out of a late model Camry (V6 ,3.0, Quad Cam, All Aluimun engine, block and all!) The Camry motor has twice the horsepower and twice the torque of the MR2 motor! . Plus it will last for 200,000 miles ! A hot rodded motor has the life span of a hand-grende. Power goes up, life span goes down. Has anyone put there have any info on such a swap? Am I the only one in the entire world who wants real power ? Please post any info. the only info I find on MR2's is from dealers who deal in hop-up parts to hop up the stock MR2 motor. BIG MONEY SPENT vs SHORT LIFE SPAN .
Fri Nov 21 16:30:57 1997 Mike Chou (F183-162.net.wisc.edu) Hey did anyone see Hiroki Satoh's page? He says there will be a new NA MR2 in Dec '97 for Japan. It's supposed to be a 200ps VVTi engine. Anyone know how much it might cost to import one? Anyone know which engine it is or transmission it uses? (looking to replace my 5SFE)

Fri Nov 21 21:51:17 1997 Greg. (ww-tp01.proxy.aol.com) Just stopped in to say hi to all MR2 lovers. I still don't have one but now I'm thinking about the MRS now. I just fond a 1/24 inch Toyota MR2 model kit. It has a Super Charger & T-Roof. No date for the car but 1986 on the side of the box, and the name on the kit is FUJIMI kit #1019-800. Any info on this kit? Bye all, Be back soon. Love Long Island lady's with MR2's ;-)~
Sat Nov 22 03:22:14 1997 Jeremy (XYP3-PORT8.sonoma.edu) Great site fella's! I just purchased my 1991 normally aspirated black Mr2 from your want ad page. I was starting to fix it up and wondered if you had any suggestions or ideas for me. If so, let me know or if you recommend any shops in the California Bay area where I might get advise or work done. Anyways, great site and keep up the good work.
Sat Nov 22 13:01:58 1997 Stephen R. Moseley (206.100.38.37) Lovely website, though I'm just beginning to probe it. I am a Nebraskan and (for now) the owner of a 1986 black MR2 as well as a 1991 turbo model. The black one, sadly, is for sale and must go lest my marriage be placed at risk. Hello from Nebraska.
Sat Nov 22 15:26:54 1997 Jessie L. Sanchez (164.158.5.128) I have a 1991 MR-2 (non turbo) and I have had the hardest time trying to upgrade its performance. It seems to me that if is not a turbo then there is nothing for it other than a cat-back exhaust and a power flow intake system. I think this 2.2L engine has some hidden power somewhere. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Please e-mail at the address provided above and cc my home at Sandman_1633@hotmail.com sincerely, Jessie L. Sanchez FC1(SW) U S N

Wed Nov 26 15:02:46 1997 Shawn (usem.com) This has nothing to do with MR2's, but I just got into a debate with a gearhead. He says that a car with the most torque will always be faster than the car with more horsepower. He thinks that the fact a 3.2 Liter Formula 1 motor can produce 900HP (at about 250 ft/lbs of torque...14000 RPM's) is bullshit and his 300 Ft/Lb chevy motor could beat it, EASILY! This just goes to show what Chevy Ford and Chrysler have done to the American intellect, it must be from all of the pollution the muscle cars produced. I am glad to see that there are some of you out there with 2.0 Liters outrunning all of the muscle cars...Keep up the good work guys. Happy Thanksgiving

I currently have BFGoodrich Comp T/A 225/50ZR15 tires on the rear which need to be replaced (I just blew one out), but I cannot find any. They are on "Factory backorder." Can I safely replace them with Dunlop SP 8000s, or do I have to replace all 4 tires ($$) if I cannot find just the BFG tires. I like to drive this car the way it was meant to be driven! Thanks for any replies. Oh, I do love this site, and I have read the tire information herein.
