Mon Jun 1 00:45:57 1998 John Tedesco (1Cust24.tnt2.det3.da.uu.net) I love my 1993 MR2, great car!!
Mon Jun 1 07:47:56 1998 Matt (proxy-112.iap.bryant.webtv.net) I just picked up the latest copy of Sport Compact Car and saw where they are running a 15 part series on increasing horsepower for the MR2. Unfortunately they are on part 14 already. If you have any old issues of this magazine please e:mail me. Thanx.
Mon Jun 1 10:49:13 1998 Mike Lobenberg (proxy1b.lmco.com) I have a 1991 MR2 Turbo and need to find a local shop that knows what they're doing. I'm located in the San Jose CA area. I've got almost 100,000 mi and the only real problem has been with the rear wheel tire ware caused by the necessary toe in of the rear wheels
Mon Jun 1 13:27:38 1998 Barret Molenaur (130.101.204.247) I only came to this site for a few pictures, but I got a lot of other useful info. as well. Thanks.
Tue Jun 2 03:52:08 1998 Jim Sutton (hd10-036.hil.compuserve.com) I've owned my 93 Turbo for almost two years, it has 36K on the ticker. When I bought it was bone stock and since then I've invested about $6k in mods. Mostly performance, but a few cosmetic, such as '95 tailights, '97 Japanese corner lenses, and white face gauges from NR. Performance mods are extensive, HKS intake, FCD, EVC IV, Turbo Timer, Nology power core and Hot wires, Greddy intercooler and exhaust. S.P.A.L. intercooler fan, Brembo crossdrilled rotors, R-90 Compound Brake pads(They need to heat up first, but can stop this car from 60 in 98 feet!!!), H&R lowering springs, Tokico 5-way Strut inserts. Full set of Energy Suspension bushings(big difference!), and 17" enkei RP-02 Wheels with 215/40 Yoko A520s front and 235/40 Yoko A032Rs on the rear. And speaking of those, Way sticky!!!! Believe it or not it is hard to get the tail loose in a corner with these tires!! with this set and those tires, I've measured up to 1.12g cornering force with my G-Tech in a parking lot. And ! they're forgiving at the limits! Looks like they're going to last about 3K though!! Almost worth it if you really like to go REAL fast on the twisties!! I've done all of the mods myself so any questions or comments are certianly welcome. Long live the MR2!!!
Tue Jun 2 11:48:54 1998 Dennis Watson (x2port14.magma.ca) Great site, Geoff. I've been a regular since I got my '86 MKI three years ago. The MR2 is a ton o' fun! Keep up the good work MKI fans will want to check out http://www.mr2sc.com/ too.
Tue Jun 2 15:49:57 1998 Glenn Jones (slip-32-100-98-125.tx.us.ibm.net) I love these automobiles. Sadly i have to part with 2 of them. One has a new engine with 6000 miles on it.The other is for parts and has alot of good parts left including an engine that is out but disassembled. The one i am keeping has come to a grinding halt due to lack of operating funds. Imagine that! The MR2 is an excellent automoblie when maintained properly. I recommend getting the Factory Maintenance Manual. E-mail me and let me get on with my work.
Wed Jun 3 01:24:05 1998 ryan smith (204-14-149.ipt.aol.com) Every time I refuel my 87 mr2, I always put 93 octane. Until one of my friends told my that may be wrong. If any one know the correct octane for my car, please let me know. I do not have the original manuel.
Wed Jun 3 10:29:08 1998 Don Neilson (207.67.139.117) Suzanne and I drive an '87 and thoroughly enjoy it. I have just learned of the IMOC and am searching various websites for useful info. Thank you to all who keep alive our interest in Toyota's wondercar.
Wed Jun 3 21:38:31 1998 steven (ww-tc02.proxy.aol.com) got an '86. white w/blk interior. about 117k and runs great. a few small dings but no rust. still has all the original parts but... the suspension is shot but i'm upgrading to eibach springs, tokico adjustable struts and a suspension techniques sway bar and bushing kit. i've replaced the headlights with hella replacement kits and got some 80/100 blue ion bulbs. two words...BAD ASS! the stereo is out too, replaced with a kicker solo 12c in the front trunk in a custom fiberglas box. interior was all removed and dynamatted premium and v-bloc applied (fills in the gaps and tight spots). an alpine cde-7930 in the dash and an era-g320 in a custom overhead console. driving an mrv-1000,400,300 in a rack in the rear trunk (yes i gan still get in my golf bag or a load of groceries!). the amps are eclosed under etched plexi and are twin fan cooled. they drive a 6-4-tweet set up front and a 4-tweet set in the rear pillars. the 1000 runs solo to the sub. it's just fantastic! out of quite a few cars now, i'll say it's not the best or fastest, but it's the coolest to drive. it's an attitude, man! see ya crusin'
Thu Jun 4 01:53:30 1998 Patrick Lopez (ts8-13.boi.cyberhighway.net) You guys are every MR2 owners dream! I have only looked at the FAQ, but you need a section on repairs. I have intermittent dashboard lighting, and while I'm a decent self-sufficient mechanic, I can't figure out for the life of me how to fix the headlights-one points way up-so any advice you can send would be like divine intervention!
Thu Jun 4 07:04:45 1998 jos raaijmakers (tb0041.wxs.nl) great site whe don't have mr2 super chargers in holland but whe have build a 4agze engine in a 84 coralla (ae86)

Sat Jun 6 05:55:21 1998 N.A. Love (8.detroit-03.mi.dial-access.att.net) This site is very informative. I have an '86 MR2, and have been having some trouble getting it to run on a regular basis....thought I'd come on the internet and see if I could find some more information on it.....and much to my surrise, there are dozens of websites....this is the 1st one I went to.
Sat Jun 6 23:46:37 1998 Ben Bailey (host-209-214-83-144.ath.bellsouth.net) I bought a well-maintained 1985 MR2 about a year ago, and it has been a joy. Though I've had to make a few mechanical repairs, the original engine still runs great with over 160K miles on the odo. At age 44, I'm finally driving the kind of car I longed for at age 16. Great website! Keep up the good work. bcb
Mon Jun 8 20:14:34 1998 Lyle Wikner (ns2.divi.com) I have a 91 Turbo. If you have been experiencing problems with your AC, like leaking, take it to your friendly Toyota dealer. There was a recall on mine and they replaced a valve and recharged the system at no cost. Good motoring.
Tue Jun 9 11:05:27 1998 Shawn (emersonele-bh.emrsn.com) I'm from St.Louis, but I was out in San Francisco last weekend when I saw a convoy of about 34 Acura NSX's (apparently some club meeting) on I-30. To my surprise there were also 8 MR2's near the end of the group, all MKII versions! My girlfriend was trying to calm me down, but counting all those mid-engine sports cars on one stretch of highway almost made me wreck. Too bad I only had a rental. Drive safe, but scare the passengers!

Tue Jun 9 21:59:11 1998 Chad (t07-08.ra.uc.edu) I was just wondering if anyone out there has replaced their front-end with the Aeroware version and did it themselves. I wanted to know how hard it was and about how much it cost to have it painted.
Wed Jun 10 00:02:53 1998 Joe Amaya (208.193.197.92) proud owner of 88MR2 with 63k. Recently put in a omni-magnum ignition and 8.5mm wires by Jacobselectronics(est 8hp increase). Thu Jun 11 21:13:02 1998 Max Work (ww-tj03.proxy.aol.com) I can't be a part of the club yet, but I'm looking at buying an MR2 very soon. I saw some repair info on the MI's but couldn't find much on the MII. From what I hear, they're very reliable, but I was wondering if they were expensive to fix when something did go wrong, and what were common problems in the MII's. Thanks for any help any one can give me. Drive on.

I am also a very advent reader of Compact Sport Car Magazine....and I can't seem to find any hotrod customizing engine parts. Everything seems to be for the MR2s that are about 1990 and up. I think the older MR2s are alot hotter looking, and much nicer body lines.

Wed Jun 17 01:05:06 1998 Jason Dewolfe (den-co20-02.ix.netcom.com) Z28 Killer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My buddy has a 1996 Z28 with a Filtercharger, engine computer that retards timing, adjusts fuel/air ratio, increases redline etc, Borla exhaust, upgraded pully's and traction bars. I have been trying to beat him forever. (Stock MKII Turbo will not) I FINALLY DID IT. I took these mods. K&N Filtercharger, SPAL intercooler fan, NGK three prong plugs, Nology HotWires, distributer cap with copper contacts, Boost controller (in combination with my homemade fuel cut defencer) allows 18psi, which is max psi the stock Toyota turbo will achieve, and last but not least, I gutted BOTH of my cats (improved hp more than I ever expected). Check out my page under the Who's Who list (I am in Colorado), keep in mind though I have new pics coming, the car looks even better now with different color rotors and some added graphics.

Wed Jun 17 22:02:49 1998 Alex (proxy1.frmt1.sfba.home.com) wondering if anyone has had problems with there power windows! I own a 93 MR2 turbo. The passenger side window will go down but not UP! oh and the driver side will not let the "pass window" go down or up! I've checked the Main power relay, changed the main control on the driver side, and reversed the red and green wire on the motor to get the window back up. Can't figure this one out. if anyone has any ideas pleas email them to me. Any idea is better the a trip to the dealer. Many thanks Alex

Thu Jun 18 01:34:36 1998 Jason Dewolfe (den-co27-02.ix.netcom.com) Z28 Killer!!!!!! Finally, I am able to beat my buddy's 1996 Z28. He has several mods so I know I can easily take a stock Z28. It's not the fastest car in town, but being able to beat most V8's with a "little" 4 banger is a hell of a lot of fun (especially Camero Z28's and Mustangs) CURRENT MODIFICATIONS: GReddy Turbo Timer 20psi Boost Gauge (Pillar mounted) Momo Chrome & Carbon Fiber Shift Knob Tenzo Driving Lights Hella Headlamps (European Style with mercury vapor high output bulbs) Clear corner lenses Several audio components (Premier deck, 12" sub, EQL, XM3 crossover, 3 Fosgate amps, MB Quart tweets and mids etc.) RS-R Springs 17" Kosei Racing Seneka's Nitto Exit GT (215 40 ZR17) K&N FilterCharger (no air filter box, it feeds direct if you didn't know) NGK "three-prong" spark plugs (these things are cool, the spark travels horizontal between the prongs instead of vertical to one prong like all other plugs, this creates a monster spark pattern) Nology HotWires Upgraded Distributor Cap and rotor (Copper contacts) HKS blowoff valve Manual Boost Controller SPAL Intercooler Fan Gutted BOTH catalytic converters Disconnected computer fuel cut, so I am currently running max psi the stock turbo will achieve 18psi Stock Exhaust behind second cat (I had a straight pipe with no muffler, but after gutting my cats, the straight pipe sounded terrible, plus the dual pipes look better anyway. The only drawback to this was the added weight of the stock pipes and muffler) Mods that netted best power gains: Boost controller (in combination with fuel cut defense) Gutted cats I am currently working on a water cooling system for my intercooler. I have done (installed) all mods myself as well as exterior graphics. I would be happy to answer any questions you have about any install. I would love to get a club together in Colorado, anybody interested please E-mail me.

I'm looking at trying to find an mk1 mr2, preferably supercharged (drove a na and it felt gutless compared to my friends del sol). All the info on what to look for in used mr2's is going to be real helpfull. probably will keep me away from the ONE being sold in the state (alaska) currently. Everyone up here who has em, keeps em. *sigh* Lots of good/great info, i'd definetly recommend this site to anyone who owns or is thinking of purchasing an mr2. Keep up the good work!

Mon Jun 22 12:22:29 1998 Jana Elliott (spider-wa053.proxy.aol.com) I have had my 1991 MR2 since 1994. It has been the most relible and safe car I have ever owned. Besides the stares and the comments of what a "cute" car I have, the handling and response is what I like to point out. I am looking to buy another one sometime in the future because once you own one you don't want to experience anything else.
Mon Jun 22 13:28:32 1998 Gary Garrison (hlfx42-37.ns.sympatico.ca) So what about the MRJ? It was fairly big deal in all the magazines, but now I haven't heard anything about it...
Mon Jun 22 17:59:42 1998 Andrew Nicholson (207.229.255.85) I own a gold '86 MR2. I've been told that's a rare color. I love my "pocket rocket". Everything is stock except my air filter. I've pulled out all the intake plumbing, and installed a cone filter. There was a LOT of power increase.
Mon Jun 22 19:42:19 1998 Michael Ted (www.symitar.com) Hello to all! I unfortunately totaled my '91 MR2 a couple of weeks ago :(. However, I scored a beautiful '92 last Friday :) ! For those of you who care may I suggest something. My '92 is RED (I know, I know I've heard everything about the Red). However, this car was garaged since day one and owned by one person. I went and purchased some ZYMOIL car wax. HOLY GUACOMOLE! This stuff is AMAZING! It isn't cheap (a.b. $20) but WORTH every penny. It is also a pain to put on (if you follow the instructions exactly) but worth it without question. Anyway, I was wondering if someone could tell me how to properly remove the covers that have the lower L&R speakers. I want to replace them without damaging the covers. Can anyone help?
Tue Jun 23 10:06:59 1998 Max Jones (host5-171-227-157.btinternet.com) I've just imported a MR2 T Bar 1991 GT Ltd from Japan and am keen to alter the tail lights to conform to the European requirement of having at least one high intensity red fog lamp. While I am practically quite competent with general servicing and maintenance work I cannot work out how the tail light clusters are removed. I can see 4 white plastic studs which have been inserted through the rear of the car but they seem to be a permanant fixture and not an easily detatchable sevicing point. Anyone any ideas?

Wed Jun 24 17:01:31 1998 Garrett Thorpe (ad16-039.arl.compuserve.com) This may sound really wierd, but I am probably one of the biggest MR2 enthusiasts and I am only 13 years old. My aunt had a 1986 since I was 1 year old and she sold it one year ago. I miss her old MR2 but I am hoping to obtain one just like it for my first car. If you have any suggestions for me, please e-mail me.

Wed Jun 24 18:34:32 1998 Jason Dewolfe (den-co56-59.ix.netcom.com) RE: SPEAKER COVERS. You have to remove the entire door panel. This requires first the removal of the panels which your door locks and window switches are located (assuming you have power both, if not, I am not sure what is there)these just pop out, but be careful not to break any of the clips or ruin the vinyl, also remove the little cup you put your hand in to open the door (one screw, as well as the plate behind the door latch(one screw also). Then go around the outside edge of the door panel and take out any screws that are in place (I do not know how many right of hand), by now all screws should be out and the only thing now holding the panel on is the clips. To get the panel off now, pry (carefully) a screwdriver between the door and door panel and the panel should pop off. I think that should cover it. If you were talking about the rear speakers, those panels just pop off (however, driver side has one screw where engine lid latch is). Also, the tweets mounted near the top of the door (near the pillars), those panels just pop off as well.

RE: LIGHTS (REAR) I had the same problem. I started to get pissed off and just started pulling them. WHAT DO YA KNOW!, they came right off. From the outside of the car, pry the lights out towards you starting from the point where the lights meet the center honeycomb piece. Those white clips are shaped like a crab claw (for lack of a better description) and atteched to the lights is a metal rod that the claw grabs onto, it is simply a friction fit.
