I am upgrading my 94 MR2 rims and tires from 15 to 16 inches. Currently I have 15X6 rims, 195/55 tires on the front and 15X7 rims, 225/50 tires on the rear. The tire shop is adamant that I can go with the same size rims all around without affecting the performance. In addition, they seem willing to put about any width tire on the front and rear (if they sell it). Currently they suggest 225s on the front. Seems way to wide to me! I am looking for any and all suggestions regarding rim sizes (height and width) and tire sizes. I am especially interested in what NOT to use.

What a real refreshing site... I sold my MR2 a couple of years back, the worst move I ever made. I am going to rectify that very soon though, I am going to buy a Japanese import as the Turbo model is not available in ther UK, so anyone with advice please let me know.

I finaly bought my first mr2 today. It is an 89 that is normally aspirated
and it runs like a champ. It has 97000 miles but it still run great. I don't know how long the engines last, but if it is still this strong after that many miles, I don't think I will have to worry.

I've had my '91 since '96. It's Super White,na,5-Speed,no power steering. I enjoy driving it immensely and dread the thought of someday having to find anything else comparable in size, handling, and style. (My ex had a Mk1 that I fell very much in love with, and it changed my whole idea about how cars are supposed to be.) Anyway, I'm always concerned about finding the best possible service for the car, and always end up going to dealers--who can be very scary in the way they handle your car. And two specific things concern me at this time: the steering wheel recall that I've heard about (mine is the original) and my problem with strut bearings. I had one replaced last year and now the other is gone bad, although I swear it's the same one although the dealer denies it. Has anyone got some info on strut bearing problems or if I can get a new stearing wheel through the recall? Any info helpful--I appreciated reading the FAQ's. Being a female MR2 owner is intimidating.

Hi I own a 88 NA Mister two equipped with omni-magnum ignition and Dunlop SP 8000's tires (z-rated)on stock 14 inch rims. I floored it on the way to San Antonio just to see what she could do. The speedo said about 121mph at 6400rpm, seemed like she had more left but I had to back off for upcoming traffic. The car felt very stable at this speed (excellent tires helped). Most fun car I have ever owned.

What can i say? - I love MR2's...I've been obsessed with MR2's since i was 10, and i have a sky blue ' 86 w/ sunroof now, but I plan to buy a '95 turbo (i love all the colors! You couldnt ask for a more reliable, affordable, unique car. I'm also considering the upcoming MR Spyder, due out next spring. If anyone else lives in the DC area and are into MR2's, don't be shy to e-mail me sometime.

hello mr2 owners out there.....i need some help with a problem i am having with my '92 mr2 (non-turbo). the car has 25,000 miles on it and it is a pleasure to drive. i have only had one area of problems with it and that's with the air conditioning. every year i have had to bring it back for service because the system lost its charge of freon. last year the problem got worse in that the vent system had a real bad oder coming out. i took just about everything apart looking for mice, etc but the insides of the system were clean.
the car goes off the road every year from december to april, and today i took it out of hibernation, only to start driving it with that awful smell again. it is hard to expalin, something like BO with a hint of oil. i brought the car back to the dealer and they have no idea what is wrong. is this something any one else has come up against? help! its hard to drive my mr2 with my head stuck out the window.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!! I have a 93 3S-GTE and the problem is an exhast manifold, and wheel bearing. Also, timing belt need to be replace too. Okay, Like to work on the exhast manifold first, I'm hearing a tip-tip tip-tip sound with i step on the gas or starting from first gear. Is it better to replace it with an aftermarket header or ? Next is the wheel bearing, what is better, let the dealer work on it or what? I didn't hear much about the problem in the web link page so i a wondering can i do it myself or what is the choices i have? And the timing belt, i notice that there are tons of ways to work on it, but what is the best bet. Please help. Thanks or should i just swamp an use exhast manifold or ? Thanks

Hi. I wondering has anyone got a 94 MR2 with roughly 36k Miles on it that starts rattley when cold and continues on the overdrive until warm. This is my second MR2. My first was a 92 with 62k Miles and sounded pretty much the same hot or cold. Toyota main dealer have told me its piston-slap. I am not convinced. Has any-one had similar problems ? if so how did they correct it ?

I used to own an 86 MR2. Had to sell it for school. Now I am looking for a MKII. Wanting a turbo and 93 or newer for a fair price. Can anyone help me find one? Where should I look? I also see some MR2's with only 20-30,000 miles on them. Is this believable? Thanks and keep up the good work with the site!!
