I will continue to look and enjoy what is being here. Keep up the good work.

It is refreshing to see that there are more enthusiasts like myself who know what kind of automobile they have and it's undeniable relation to the exotic speedsters (i.e.,Ferrari)handling and performance. long live the MR2.

The only other Marque club that feels so welcoming is Alfa Romeo Owners Club, which I am also a member of.

This is fantastic. I am a new owner of a MR2. I was a little shocked that the car has this many dedicated people. (that is a compliment). I've had at least one Toyota in my home garage since 1978. A Corolla with god knows how many miles on it. The body was shot, however I KNOW I would be driving it today if it was'nt for that damn tree. O.K. enough B.S. This car is great. I build specialty cars in my spare time. There's a 86 Celica GTS, a 88 tercel wagon, parts runner. (that is for sale). Right now I'm finishing up an 85 RX-7. Street/Strip. Weber side drafts, wide body kit, 15x8's all the way around.
I think you get the picture. The MR-2 is next, so we'll be talking again. I'm thinking turbo. Also rear 1/4 panel glas. Just a little bit of rust. The car only has 60'000 on it! I stole it for 1200$. I have a bunch of $$$ to put into it considering the original investment. Any ideas? Advice? Would be greatly appreciated.
] Keep up the good work.

I bought the 2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder last month. This is the most fun I have had driving a car AND I didn't pay over sticker. Some of the more greedy dealerships are charging from $2,000 to $6,000 over sticker!
I bought mine at Johnson Toyota in New Hampton, NY. The salesman Bob Brite said "not charging over sicker - we make it up in the volume" They were a pleasure to deal with and should be the example for those other Toyota pirates who are ripping off their customers...

I'm about to buy a 1985 MR-2 with 109,--- miles on it. I've already noticed that the exhaust system, at least the rear portion of it, will need to be replaced soon. The front right quarter panel has been replaced. There are two small rust areas, one in the rear bottom corner of each door frame. Other wise the car appears to be free of rust. The interior is kind of ratty but nothing I can't deal with. There's no evidence so far of oil leaking from the head. I think the previous owner used regular coolant in the car, and I'd like to know how to evaluate and correct any damage that might have resulted from this.
The guy wants $1300 for this car, but I think I can get it for $1000. Tomorrow I'm going to drive it...

Fri Jan 30 14:31:38 1998 Randy Garrison (ww-tn02.proxy.aol.com) Hello everybody in MR2 land! I've had my '93 for one month now and I'm at a crossroads with it. I love the car, don't get me wrong but it is terribly too slow. My last car was a Mustang and I guess it probably spoiled me. So what I've been working on the past few weeks is an engine swap. I've already found the engine my biggest problem is going to be finding a '97-'98 V-6 Camry manual transmission. My teamleader bought a '97 ES-300 and the worst thing happened to it...it was totaled while parked on the street. Anyway, I found out where the car was taken and have made arrangements to buy the engine but the few people who bought V-6 manual Camry's...could someone please wreck it and call me. Again, don't get me wrong I love the camry. If it wasn't for someone having to build it I wouldn't have a job. If you couldn't already tell I work at the georgetown plant where the camry, avalon and sienna are built so I have th!
e means to take engine measurements before the drivetrain is put into the cars and there is not any problem with it fitting. This only makes me wonder why Toyota didn't put a V-6 in this car... I guess the turbo 4 was plenty enough. The only thing that concerns me now is if there are aftermarket parts for the 3.0 V-6 but I guess 200 hp out of a normally aspirated engine that is in an MR2 should be good enough....nah, too much is never enough. From me here in Camry country have a great day...love the website. Communication is key so the more we tell each other about our love affairs with these cars the more we can learn

Does anyone else want Real Power in a MR2 without spending thousands upon thousands of dollars to build a fast motor, only to have it last a few thousand miles ? I've hot rodded /turbo'dmotors for years, but what I find is that the more power you extact from an engine the less life it has. I want to build a MR2 with a V6 3.0 out of a late model Camry. It looks like the entrie drivetrain complete with trasmission, ECU , etc. will fit. Imagine a 3.0 liter MR2, which is what Toyota should have put in the car to begin with. Don't get me wrong I love my 86 Mr2. If anyone has any info, please e-mail me. Or if you don't have any info, Lets find some. Thanks Alan
Fri May 19 07:08:49 200
Alan (proxy2.spaceproxy.com)
Imagine a MR2 with a V6 3.0 ( or bigger) out of a late model Camry/Lexus with 200hp+ stock and much more torque than the 4 banger (If that's not enough we can put a turbo on it.) HOT RODDED motors are great but they cost A lot of money! A motor which is pushed to the limit will not live long. The return of the money spent vs. how long it last is very short in most cases. I want to build a MR2 with lots of HP and TORQUE ! I've been to many junk yards searching for parts for my MR2. In the course of trying to find parts it looks like the entire drivetrain complete with transmission, ECU , etc. will fit. Imagine a 3.0 liter MR2, which is what Toyota should have put in the car to begin with. Someone must have the same vision I have of having a MR2 which will eat anything else on the road. Don't get me wrong I love my 86 MR2. If anyone has any info, PLEASE E-MAIL ME! Or if you don't have any info, Lets find some. Thanks Alan
Fri May 19 07:17:07 200
Alan (proxy2.spaceproxy.com)
Does anyone out there in MR2 land want more power ? They must because almost every entry in the MR2 guest book says great car , needs more power. There are many reasons to do a engine swap , the cost of a complete swap vs. hot rodding the existing motor would be close.
I built the motor in my MR2 and after adding everything up, I spent as much on parts ,etc as I could have bought the entire drivetrain out of a late model Camry (V6 ,3.0, Quad Cam, All Aluminum engine, block and all!) And that was with me doing the labor! The Camry motor has almost twice the horsepower and twice the torque of the MR2 motor!
Plus it will last for 200,000++ miles doing so ! A hot rodded motor has the life span of a hand-grenade. Power goes up, life span goes down. Has anyone put there have any info on such a swap? Am I the only one in the entire world who wants real power ? Please E-Mail me with any info. The only info I find on MR2's is from dealers who deal in hop-up parts to hop up the stock MR2 motor. BIG MONEY SPENT vs. SHORT LIFE SPAN .

Alan (proxy2.spaceproxy.com)
Besides "RANDY GARRISON" Fett627@aol.com .... who posted here " Fri Jan 30 14:31:38 " that he had done a V-6 swap into a MR2, I must be the Only person in the world which can imagine a MR2 with a V6 3.0+ out of a late model Camry/Lexus with 200++hp/ft.lbs / Torque stock. (if that's not enough, then we can HOT ROD it, turbo it, etc.) I wish sometimes the MR2 was an American car (like the Mid engine one which starts with an F ), then maybe I could find some info on ENGINE SWAPS.
I've done numerous searches on the internet, and I've found Nothing! The only info about MR2's seems to be from people who want to sell you parts to hop-up your existing motor up. HOT RODDED motors are great but they cost A lot of money! A motor which is pushed to the limit will Not Live Long. The return of the money spent VS how long it last is very short in most cases. I want to build a MR2 with lots of HP and TORQUE ! I've been to many junk yards searching for parts for my MR2. In the course of trying to find parts it looks like the entire drivetrain complete with transmission, ECU , etc. out of a late model Camry/Avalon will fit. Imagine a 3.0+ liter MR2, which is what Toyota should have put in the car to begin with. ...Two big reasons Toyota didn't made it with a V-6 is lawyers and liability laws.(*##@#*)#_@(* Someone must have the same vision I have of having a MR2 which will eat anything else on the road. Don't get me wrong I love my 86 MR2. If anyone has any !
info, Please E-mail me. If someone knows RANDY GARRISON, please forward his contact info to me ASAP! His old e-mail address Fett627@aol.com is stale.

i am the owner of an 85 mr2, and i have read many comments about the mark I's tendencies to have a light front end at high speeds. and this is true for the most part. there is one way to cure this problem. i have custom made a nose for my car. as soon as i get it set up on my homepage i will give the site so you can see it. i looked for a couple of years for the front end that i wanted, but never could find it. so i fabricated it myself w/out changing the fenders or the nose. it is definitely a thrill to drive at 130mph,and i would recommend that any mark I owner do this since the results are so overwhelming.not only in performance, but in looks as well.

I have a 1994 turbo black 5-speed mr-2 which i sold it to myself while working for a toyota dealership in Vegas... With only being the 2nd owner the car only had 32,000 miles when i bought it and the couple, (which why they trade the car) someone stole the lighting system from the car..
Well after having the car for 3 years, with 72,000 miles on it and my lights stolen 6 months ago and a 1k to relace, i had installed a beretta FM2000 with paging built right in the pager to notify you before the alarm goes off, and I am truely impressed by the factory alarm with pop up head lights, i have a lasar cockpit infra red inside and 2 airhorns under the hood, and is very loud, i sleep good at night now, I love my MR-2 and wouldn't sell it for anything.. Will keep it until i buy another car,. I would really like to get out this summer and meet other mr-2 euthusists like myself please e-mail me with some events
thank you

Had a MK1 T-Bar for 2 years now. Has this been the happiest two years of driving? Certainly !! Used every day, can get the golf clubs in the boot, what more can a man want (apart from Liz Hurley !)

I own a 1987 MR2 and love it except for it has no a/c and I'm looking for accessories such as the rear window clear airdam spoiler. Toyota says they never carried these so I cant find a replacement. Does anyone know where I can aquire accessories?

I really like the information you provided on the MR2s, its some of the
info I've really been craving for. It's incredible to see that others
have had the same type of ideas of modification in the possibilities of
'93 and later suspension pieces fitting '91/'92 cars. Also, as far as
the rear tires wearing quickly, my dealer told me that my rear struts were
bent and that was the cause. I doubted it from day one, but if theres any
more info to be had, I'm wanting it.

I bought a MR2 new in 1988. It now has over 260,000 miles, and is still running great.
PS. It has a super charger that still functions "on demand."
Needless to say, I'm very pleased, and still enjoying this car.

Unfortunately I am writing here to find out if there might be any interested buyers for a 1991 Red MR2 with around 75,000 miles on it. My wife and I just had a baby girl and can not afford to keep 3 cars. The clutch and emission system are brand new and the car is in great shape. We live in the Washington DC area.

I am a biased 92 MR2 owner. I think this is a great web site and I love the mkII I am very disappointed in the new so called MR2 I think it should be called "cheapboxterI" !!! The mkII has an awsome farrari look with a great T-top the new convertible should not share the same name.

just completed a complete up grade of my 91 turbo. Apexi exhaust, Apexi intercooler,Apexi afc controller, up graded turbo, forged pistons, new lighter stroger rods, valves, bearings, etc. all balanced, RC engineering fuel rail and injectors, new fuel pump, TRD clutch. After a breakin and adjustment period, the MR-2 is unbelievably fast. Next weekend I will take to drag strip to find out what it can do. ($10,000.00 motor upgrade)
