I have to say I'm so glad I found a site dedicated to MR2's I think they're the greatest machines on earth (God bless the Japanese)
My dream MR2 is Black (midnight),dropped low to the ground with all four tires tucked inward for stability...with black rims...twin garret turbos...straight flow exhausts (no back pan) super intakes and an integreted spoiler and air ducts (like what the porsches have at Le mans)
Sorry people...if your from the U.S. this dream of mine will never be seen there....damn it's good to live somewhere outside the U.S.

I own a 91 MR-2 Turbo Currently Being upgraded by a shop ran out of huntsville AL, Called power house coustome. The owner is an old boss and a good friend. I bent a rod leaving a Taco Bell parking lot and had to have it fixed. I took it to my friend and he automaticaly wanted to beef it some. I gave him a day or two with the car and went to his shop. When I got there he blew my mind with edges And Ideas on performance. I currently have small add on's like koni adjustible racing strutts,HKS blowoff valve, Jamex racing seats, and many other goodies. He wants to give the full make over and Well just a small peak at what he is doing is a coustome twin turbo application the rest are his secrets he puts into the engines he builds for dragsters. But i will give you an update when i get it back.
p.s. he is shooting for 370 HP Shhhhhh. dont tell too many people it going to be my secret on the road. so if your ever cruising through Huntsville and you see a black MR2 with dual overhead air scoops (I already have that too) Then stand aside because with that kind of power I probably wont be able to keep on the road. I just picked up my 91 Turbo with all the options last week and I love it! I found the car of my dreams and I have made a friend in the seller. The previous owner totally babied the car and I plan to do the same. She is in perfect condition, not a scratch and my mechanic says it looks like new. All new belts, hoses, ties and breaks. If you didn't look at the odometer you could never tell it has 135,000 miles.

When I was in College 15 years ago, I didn't have the money to buy a MR2 MK1. Until one day, I came across your web site. I was over joy with the information provided by your site. I eventually went out and bought a used MK1 from a lady last November and did a total restoration. When the new Spider came out, I fall in love with it right the way. Compared with the cost of a Stuttgart Spider, there is no second thought with purchasing a MR2 Spider. So I bought a yellow one with red seats. Even though the new spider is no where near the performance of the turbo MKII or the swiftness of the MKI. However, once the top is down, the fun begins....^_^.
MR2 is one of the best sport cars in the 80s and the 90s. With the support of IMOC and the new Spider, the MR2 legacy live on.

can anyone give me information on doing an engine swap on a 92 mr2 with the 5sfe engine to the 3sgte turbo engine. i found a place to get a turbo engine with about 30k miles on it pretty cheap and i wanted to swap it with my n/a engine. what else do i need besides the engine? clutch? exhaust? i'm not really sure. please e-mail me with comments and help. also what else can i do to my n/a to increase hp that doesn't cost too much?

Why did toyota design the motor to come out of the bottom of the car instead out the top. I know it ispossible to take it out the top ,but it takes longer. If you haveany other neatinfo on the mr2 that isn't known much contact me.

I'm a Toyota freak. I've owned 2 starlet's, 88 v6 p/u, 84 supra, 87 supra n/a. I currently own 2 87 supra turbos 1 is a targa top, 2 88 mr2's 1 n/a 1 s/c. My girl drives the targa & mr2 n/a. I'm currently looking at a 87 mr2 n/a that I can get for a great price. It has left front fender & light damage but I want to rally this one so that doesn't matter much. It runs good thats what counts. If I told you how many very expensive & larger motor cars I have smoked you would never believe me. Hope everyone enjoys these cars as much as I do.

I am looking to modify my MkI Mr2. I have looked at Cams, Engine chips and air filters. Does anybody know of any other way that I can tweak various bits of the engine. My friend owns a kit car and has obtained approx 30 bhp by altering different parts of the engine for a very small cost.

I just sold my 85 MR2 because of a move overseas and because of rust in the rear quarter panels..I am now back in the US and can't wait to find another "rust free" MR2 - they are the best! I have had all types of sports cars from Austin Healey to MGBs to corvettes and I have loved the MR2 the best by far! I would really like to find a great supercharged 1988-89.

hi there i plan on buying a 2000 celica GTS or a MR2 turbo...I now the horsepower figures are close..but which do you think is a better bargain...i plan on upgrading the car pretty much most likely...i love the celica but then again with the money i saved if i purchased a 2 i can upgrade many things....but i can rely on the celica because it is new and normally aspirated....which car is faster to 0-60? and which car can handle better?PLEASEEEE HELP ME! if u guys can please tell me your experiences with these two and tell me all the things about them...i heaard a guy got a 14.54 on the quarter mile with a intake and exhaust on the celica..but i hear the same with the MR2 turbo..and finally what is the 0-60 times for the celica and mr2 turbo..PLEASE HELP ME!

I have a 1986 MR2, (manufactured in 1985), and have driven it as an everyday car for 12 years. That includes Minnesota winters. It still runs good, but the body is bad. Still like my car and plan to keep it.

I have a 1986 MR2 and I absolutely love it. The car is black and has a killer stereo system installed. It has 198,000 miles on it and still runs just as good as ever. The a/c works almost too good, it gets pretty cold in the little car. I love zipping around town in my MR2 and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I just purchased a like new 1987 MR2. I love my rocket racer! I really enjoy this site and Iam glad that there are other people that enjoy their MR2's as much as I do!!!
