Got a new 2000 MR2 Spyder - what a car, fell in love with it the moment I took it for a test drive and then decided that I just had to have it!!! I'm a bit disapointed with the available info on the web though! All the info seems to be related to Mk1 and Mk2. If anyone can point me in the right direction for Mk3 then I'd appreciate it!!!!

Hi everyone. I'm on my second 91' mr2. the first was totaled in august by a drunk. the new one is a loaded 91 turbo. it's my batmobile!! ha.
2 site questions
-is the mr2 site going to be updated/overhauled?? it doesnt look like anything has been done to it since 1997 or so when i got my first mr2.
--second, is it just me or are the ash trays in the mr2 always falling apart?? i've known a few owners and most are missing this item as it's broken apart quite easily. luckily i pulled my old one from my totaled car and put it in my new car

hello everyone, i have a 1990 mk11 G limited Tbar auto, this is the first auto, and indeed MR2 i have owned and would like to know if anyone has experienced any problems with the auto box.? mine is fine and i hope it stays that way but it looks an expensive job to repair/replace should it break down.
also i would like to bring to mk11 owners the perils of not securing the spare tyre/wheel with the screw. mine wasnt secured properly and as i turned a sharp right turn the spare wheel moved, and shorted out the battery which is located right behind it, this started a small fire which i managed to extinguish but resulted in a melted battery and burnt out earth cables. you have been warned. however i wouldnt trade my MR2 for anything.......well maybe a diablo...but who wouldnt..?

pontiac firebird vs toyota MR2......BHP per tonne its clearly obvious which cars gonna come out on top since a stock 3.8 litre firebird V6 weighs in at only 200 bhp @ 5200 rpm and my stock imported Glimited MR2 gives an impressive 189 BHP for only 2.0 litres. ok maybe a lower figure but remember the MR2 weighs almost half that of the firebird and theres not too many cars can claim a BHP figure like that for the size engine it has. i look foreward to seeing you at the lights. just dont even think about taking on an MR2 turbo.

Great site. I just bought a 95 type II. The one that was advertised on ebay. Those that looked at it and didn't bid, thank you, but you missed one.
I flew to Salt Lake and picked it up on the thirteenth. It is fun to get to know a new car in the snow but it handled very well. Didn't realize how few 95s there were till I went to this site. (356) So I"m going to sell my 89 type I. If anyone wants a good one with the japanese 125hp engine and in great shape, drop me a line.

I own a mkII 91 mr2 its cherry red with tinted windows . I have also added a fiberglass air ram induction kit it comes over the roof on the driverside and it feeds into the air filter I had to remove the air box man its pretty big . oh ya my car is a 2.2 non turbo. it pushes out around 200hp now . I have put on it 17 inch 5 star ADR rims white with red centercaps and I also had the bottom black peices painted white to match the rest . I tell u everyone stares at my car . I have a pic to send out if anyone wants to see . As for the interior I added a full stereo system . I get complements and stares everyday not trying to bragg . I even had people in a porsche staring me down on the highway as I blew by them lol.

my brother worked at a toyota dealership, and this old guy, the original owner traded it in for a new corolla. It's been garaged for years and never even seen rain! This car is mint with only 40K on it,and not even a scratch.
I must say, I love this car, and can't believe I've vever owned one before.

I was surprise there is no club, association, whatever for Florida supposedly the "Sunshine State". I own a 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder. I frequent some of the car shows around Ft Lauderdale and I would like to meet with other owners to exchange ideas, modification project etc. A good start is I595 and University Dr on Fridays the place is full of hotrods including Miatas (puaj!) after all the MR2 Spyder a lot better. I just tagged and titled a 1985 toyota mr2 ,it needed some body work a replacment heater motor, strut supports, the floor boards were rusted out.. I took the car to the department of corrections garage and had the inmates do all the labor, I only paid for parts. I paid a 1,000.00 for the car and approx.400.00 for parts. I love this car! It has 147,791 miles on it and still runs like its new.

I just got another mr. my 5th. I got it from a young lady and she told me she got ina wreck at about 5 or so mphh,the air bag deployed. I have no way to know if I put in a new (used ) bag if it will work .The bag light stayes on now, wen I ordered the bag he said I might need to put in the part that deployes thebag ,he was not sure if need te relay.I;am sure if I ask the dealer they would say I need this & that.I wonder if anyone could tell me what to do.

I own a Mark 2 16 valve 2litre Turbo privately imported from Japan complete with all original service documentation (in Japanese). I am not into the technical stuff but just enjoy the MR2 experience.
If anyone can help I have a three questions that I could do with some advice with.
1 Central locking where can I obtain a replacement key that will operate the remote ?
2 Tyre wear, the car came fitted with 15inch 225 alloys on the front and 17inch 255 on the rear! The front tyres are wearing on the inside, is there any advice available?
3 Strange knocking - at the front, drivers side, especially in the morning and when it's cold!
Any advice would be appreciated

Hey all, impressed by the site, very nice!.... bit of sad news. insurance company totaled my baby 88 mr2 T bar! only a $$ total not a mechanical total. None the less I'm gonna let her go. Super nice 2 tone dark gray/light gray front end damage but fixable for a knowledgeable repairman. very clean.. interested? $600 firm offer stands until insurance company picks it up...then its gone! 130k on engine but very very solid runner....contact me for more info
