I just totaled my 1997 Hyundai Tiburon FX, and started to become interested in MR2s. I'm looking for a '91-95 MR2 Turbo with T-tops. I am looking to make this car a 13 second car before the end of the year, and then at least down to 12 seconds!!! I need it for the 14 mile when I race.

I want to do an engine swap with my non-turbo 1993 MR2 with a 3SGTE engine so I could make it turbo. I found an engine to do the swao with that has 60,000 miles on it. I have the ECU for the 3SGTE engine as well. My only main concern is the transmisson. Do I need a transmission off a Turbo MR2 or can I just use the non-turbo transmission with the 3SGTE? PLEAE SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

Looking to buy my first MR2, I didn't know much about the cars before visiting this site. Thanks for all the information! I found it very helpful. My husband is a DIY man, so I'm pleased to see the cars don't require excessive maintenance. He's also a Mopar man so the reliability of the MR2 is a big plus to win him over to buy one for me. Hopefully I'll be a satisfied owner of my own MR2 soon. Now if I could just find one for sale nearby

I just bought a '91 MR2 about 3 weeks ago and love it. It was a one owner (woman) car that was not driven a lot. I bought it with 81k miles. The interior is like new and it has all the options (cd, tape, upper sonsole, t'tops,etc.). It is bright red (was painted-but an awesomepaint job). The car handles awesome-even better after I put on 4 Firestone Firehawk SH30's! My only plans are a cold air induction kit, exhaust (something throaty that doesn't sound like a motorcycle, 15" rims and possibly cams.

I know you all already know this, but I need a knowledgable guide as I go about finding my first MK1.
I want to use the car as a daily runabout, isn this practical. I'm a UK 'owner', so it wont be doing massive trips everywhere, and as far as I have read across the net, These cars are pretty reliable.
How long does an engine last, realistically, as the only examples I can find that are of reasonable price are about 75-100k milers. Is this OK?
Apart from that. I must say thanks for the site, it's got almost everything a budding owner could wish for, and when I finally get an AW11 onto my drive, I'll sign up.
PS: Are there any big meetings for toyotamr2 owners in the UK, like a 'bug-jam' for mister-two's?
