Fri Mar 1 03:46:48 2002 Walter (spider-ntc-tb032.proxy.aol.com) I purchased my MK1 Supercharged brand new in early 1990. In the information section of this web site it states that the supercharged version of the MK1 was produced from 1986 to 1989. This is incorrect. The following numbers came directly from Toyota: There were a total of 3502 supercharged models produced in 1988 & 1989, as follows: 1988 650 units with auto transmission 1777 units with standard transmission 1989 149 units with auto transmission 926 units with standard transmission There were no supercharged models made in '85, '86 or '87.

Tue Mar 5 09:46:51 2002 David Ho (ce1.time.net.my) I owned a 1992 Japanese Specs MKII.aka type 225. I am interested in help and guildlines in order for me to keep the car in tip top running conditions and to trouble shoot problems from people around the world who has a MR2 as the pats here in Malaysia is very costly for new and parts are rare for recondition ones.

Fri Mar 8 14:23:53 2002 Neil Fonger (pool-141-154-216-120.bos.east.verizon.net) After a 2 year search I finally found a rust-free New England car. It had a blown motor and no title. But the car was worth fixing both problems, the title being the hardest. After lowering and adding 15"-50 series rubber, the car is just a blast to drive. But you've got to up date your Owner's list. All the people listed in Massachusetts date back to '96 and '97. I doubt most these people are still owners.
Fri Mar 8 17:18:26 2002 Barbara Lariscy (spider-tn061.proxy.aol.com) My son wrecked my 1991 MR2. the nose is smashed and I think the frame is bent. The interior is still fine as is the engine (89,000 miles) I do not have the money to fix it and would like to get some input as to what I can do with it now? It is a great car and I would like somebody other than the junk yard or scrap metal yard to own it. Anybody have any advise? Thank you. BL

Tue Mar 12 18:43:06 2002 FAST LES (tnt-21-126.easynet.co.uk) CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY MY BOOT LID IS ALWAYS WET ON THE UNDERSIDE ON MY 91 G LTD
Wed Mar 13 11:21:44 2002 Gavin Valentino (206.66.239.211) Still an MR2 fan after all these years. I had one of the first '85's to be shipped to the U.S. back in '84; it was a demo belonging to the head honcho for M.A.T. (Mid-Atlantic-Toyota dealer division), and was loaded with all the goodies one could get on an '85. I later had an '89 super2, two-tone grey wleather; sold it and made a bunch of $$$. I bought another super2 '89 about a year ago, one-owner with 146k and now a bearing noise and hot temps. It's in the works to be back on the road if I can find a mechanic who's not so SCARED of "them damn Toyrotas." I've yet to own a generation 2 version, but perhaps if the right one comes along.
Wed Mar 13 22:30:01 2002 Linda Frew (ip189.subnet66.gci-net.com) I LOVE my MR2. It's a 1991, normally aspirated, 5SFE,2.2 litre. I am dismayed that, at 90,000 miles, it has a very weak cylinder (75%). Got a valve guide seal job, because it puffed a little oil and consumed a little oil, but since then, oil consumption has gotten much WORSE, although I don't seem oil puffs any more. I love my car enough to think about replacing the engine, but am having trouble locating one and, in addition, don't know if I should make that investment. Much as I love the car, and it has a lot of new stuff, like a clutch and new AC everything, valve guide seals, etc., it still needs paint (typical red paint fade), struts and, who knows what else? I'm a gal on a budget and am told that, to replace the engine with a remanufactured one would cost about $2500. Am I throwing money away? Can't afford a new car at this point, and LOVE the MR2. Anyone got time to give me some sound and rational advice? Would appreciate it. Linda in Tucson, AZ

Sat Mar 16 23:51:06 2002 Helyne Lillian (pcp083985pcs.arnysm01.nj.comcast.net) Hi There-Just came across this site. I have a 1985 MR2. Original possesser sold her after six months--- tooo me. Just love the little darling. Have been having some problems the past year. Over heating. Can anyone help! Had the radiator replaced and the pump and thermostat. Desperately needing advice. Have no intensions of ever selling her. One of the best buys ever. Runs like a tank-and she only has 163 thousand miles. This is the first time ever that I have had any problems. My advice to any others in possession of an MR2--- stay far from Toyota dealers. Find a good foreign mechanic. May pay more but satisfaction is guaranteed. Unfortunately - both of us are stumped at this point. Thanksand enjoy. They are very hard to find. But very easy to love.

Wed Mar 20 12:45:57 2002 Erik (208.178.206.89) I OWNED a 1987 Midnight Blue Toyota MR2. Unfortunately, the car went down with a destroyed engine about 2.5 years ago. But this car was nothing I have ever driven before, a car that remains passionately in my heart. This car was my first car, my cock pit, as I called it, and I owned it. I look all the time for models equivilant to it. I will one day have my 87 MR2.
