This site is great! I have a '91 since new and have 131,000 fun miles! Just put in a clutch and the AC conked. Dlr. screwed up MR2 floor mats and cannot find replacements. Toyota USA not at all helpful Any ideas, suggestions? Never in my long life have I owned a sports car longer than three years and this is my 11th wMR2. Thinking of buying? Just do it!

i own an 88 SC that's been heating up on me, i was wonder what it could be, i replaced the water pump but it still does it, thought maybe it could be the head gasket. and the fans dont come on by themselves had to install a switch to turn them on on my own. thanks

After 241,066 km of the most reliable service ANY vehicle has given me. Today I sent my 1989 SC AW11 for an Engine Rebuild. The superchargers drive belt got shredded while racing another MR2 uphill. It has had only minor work done on it, belts, plugs etc. So I figured "Time for a hospital visit".
I am very pleased so far, will be nice to have a tight motor again :)

I posted this before, but with no responses. I wrecked my latest MR2 last year and all that I have left is the rear strut tower brace (that goes over the engine in a turbo MK-2). If you have a NA MK-2 and would like this, it's painted red and it's FREE I'd prefer a local pickup in St. Louis, though. If you want it shipped it's not free anymore! I just don't want to bother putting an ad in the X-cars classifieds.

I have worked for a Toyota dealer in New Zealand for nearly thirty years. In that time I have owned many many Toyota's but I have just bought my first MR2.
I bought it for my own use but once my wife saw it and drove it I lost it. Our MR2 is now her MR2. MR2's in NZ are affectionatly known as "Mister Two's"
They are a faboulous car and great fun to drive.

91 Mr2 Non-turbo or was it? Just swap motor to a 93 J-spec 3SGTE. and beleive me when i had non-turbo with alittle mod's. It doesn't compare to the real Turbo motor running 18 psi. of BOOST!! I'm still trying to figure out what MR2 stands for. I think it should be "Mustang Runabout 2slow" cuz every mustang that came near me felt that BOOST and saw only my license plate. Check ya later MR2 owners. And don't forget MR2 will never DIE ;)

I am 35 years old and have not had a "sports" car since I was in high school. Then it was muscle cars. I needed a commuter car and found my mk1 at a buy here pay here lot for $2,000.00 in what I would consider pretty good shape. I have since fallen in love with it and am looking at getting another car for commuting. I drive 60 mi. to work one way. The car "87" has 128k orig. miles.
