Location: Austin TX
Car: 1991, MkII Turbocharged, Pearl White
Mileage: apx 125k miles

I purchased My MR2 used in May of 1994. Since then I have put almost 125,000 miles on the car, and loved every mile.

I must confess that I was a little leery of the horse power potential of a "Japanese four cylinder" as most of the cars I have owned had American

Eight Cylinders in them. I was soon to learn a very important lesson in Turbo

Charging.

I had the car two hours when I put the HKS exhaust on it. The following weekend I went racing. I was laughed at and taunted by the "American V8 Owners".

Feeling a little distraught, I started looking for performance parts. I Then purchased a M's Fuzzy Boost controller, FCD, and Airinx filter. Happy with the results, I went looking for a remach.

I still lost a couple races, some still laughing, however some were not.

Next a HKS VPC was in order. This allowed me to tune the car a little better. By now I was hooked. As the factory turbo was spitting oil, I purchased the HKS Sport Turbo used from Jim Mcfarland at Mech-Tech in CA.

These mods gave me a high 13 second 1/4 mile. Happy with the performance I started looking to keep the car on the ground. I purchased S.T. Sway bars, TRD springs, GAB struts, energy suspension bushings, and 17" wheels. I mounted 235 40 17 on the front and 275 40 17 on the rear. This made a really big improvement in handling.

With suspension completed I then upgraded to the '93 MR2 brakes.

Feeling confident that the car could handle the new added horsepower, I started looking for ways to go faster. I consulted Mike at Majestic turbo (972-579-3083) about which turbos would fit.

He was nice enough to let me look through all his cores, and flow charts of the turbo's. I finally chose a TD06 from a cyclone.

We upgraded the compressor housing to the 20G wheel and installed it on the car. I lost a little low end power, but it more than made up for the loss on the top end.

I then built a custom down pipe, 2.5" mandrel exhaust. With all these modifications, the car was starving for fuel. I broke my first piston.

After repairing the engine countless times, I traded the VPC in towards a new Greedy intercooler from Alamo. The intercooler made about 40 degrees difference in my intake charge. I then built custom pipes for the intercooler and added a Greedy Type R blow off valve.

Still needing more fuel, I purchased an Accel DFI from RPS automotive. This allowed me to use 550cc injectors from the '93+ Turbo supra and tune the car better.

By now you are probably wondering "How much power does this make?" Well how does 410.5 at the wheels sound?

I have done all the labor/fabrication work to my car, Alamo Autosports in Arlington(817-860-4300) has sold me most of the parts.

For Brice and crew at Alamo, I apologize for my misunderstanding of the recent SCC Mag fuel rail Identity crisis. I was wrong for passing judgement with out knowing all the details. Hopefully this hasn't caused too much damage with out relationship.

If anyone has any quesions about the MR2 please feel free to contact me or Brice. We will be more than happy to help. If we don't know I'm sure we can find someone who does.

Many of you may know Eric Fisher, who recently totaled his beloved MR2, thank

god he wasn't hurt.
