A couple of years ago my MR2 lost power. The dealer couldn't find the problem.

I went to a few other repair facilities, no luck. Went back to the dealer

and the head of the repair shop had an MR2. He swapped every part he could between the two and no change. Then he pulled the intake and found little

butterfly plates for each piston...anyway those plates were covered with goop

and wouldn't open all the way up making the engine run very lean. After cleaning

them the performance is back. Took two years and several hundred dollars to find

out that dirt can kill the engine's performance. I use 44K every 3 months now

and I've taken the blow-back from the crank case and run it into a jar with steel wool inside to catch all the goop that otherwise ends up on the air-flow

butterfly and these other butterflies in the intake manifold.
