Location: Birmingham, Alabama, USA
Car: 1993, MkII Turbocharged, Black
Mileage: 25,400 miles
My Black/Tan leather 93 Turbo has a number of engine mods. Some are from MR2
Performance Prod in Colorado, and others came from Select Sales, Miami,FL. I
am running the following mods:
Mechanical Boost Control(MR2 PP), Power Max Intake, Genie Exhaust, Beru
Plugs, Nology Wires and PowerCore Coil Booster, Greddy Intercooler/SPAL Fan,
Greddy Blowoff Valve, HKS Fuel Cut Defencer, "A" Pillar Boost Gauge. I am
running 17 lbs of boost. Performance is excellent, with smooth powerful pull
through each gear.
My headlights are aftermarket 80/100 watt units. My favorite cosmetic
addition is an Aeroware kit which was installed by a local shop.
Installation/fitting/paint cost (not including kit) was around $1200.
Turbo upgrade, Turbonetics T04E-50, Deltagate, Custom downpipe and "B" pipe. Profec B,
VPC, Rebic 3 and dual 550cc injectors in intercooler plumbing, Dual fuel rail mod with
balanced injectors. Most of the the turbo mods were done at home. Alamo Autosports
installed the Rebic 3, B pipe, VPC and dual fuel rail. The engine pulled 389 hp (crank)
with no exhaust and 379 hp with the quieter Genie exhaust installed. Driving the car is
a blast. It will spin the tires in second gear while it slams you back in the seat at
22 psi of boost.
I have also added Racing Hart Tracer wheels and a TOMS air scoop.
My power goals have been met. Now I can work on the suspension.
I live in Birmingham, Alabama and work as a district manager for a pension
company called VALIC. My other hobbies include: flying (commercial
helicopter and fixed wing, own Citabria 7KCAB), scuba diving, amateur
radio(K4UHM), guitar, motorcycles and, working out. I am 53 (mr2's aren't
just for kids), married and have two boys, 17 and 9.
If you haven't figured it out, I love my MR2, and think it's one of the,
all time, great road machines. This is my third mr2.
If you are coming through Birmingham, give me a call. (205) 967-8955w,
