I must admit that I was very cautious when my Japan import MR2 turbo came along,
as I had seen some horror stories of bad examples of Jap imported cars to Australia.
But after seeing the car (It looked 12 months old not 5 years old), and having several
automotive engineers go over it in extreme detail, I jumped at the chance of my dream car.
Some of my Mister 2 specifications - Japan spec 3SGTE 2ltr turbo motor, 5 speed, Dark
Green Mica paint, leather interior, CD player/Radio/Casette, standard wheels, 43K klms,
ABS, Speed sensitive power steering, T roof, car alarm connected to the central locking.
ADR (Australian Design Rule) compliancing by the registered Automotive Engineer cost
AUD$6,000 and from what I can tell involved not much more than fitting door crash
intrusion bars, Australian approved seat belts, some minor brake and emmission control
mods, tyres and doing the paper work !!
I love the power of the Jap 3SGTE turbo motor and the driving style you have to adopt to
push the car hard. YYYYIIIPPPEEEE !!!
Planned modifications are -: freeing up the breathing through intake and exhaust
changes, Tweaking the turbo/intercoller for 13-15 psi boost, 93' model upgrade
to the rear end suspension/subframe and 93' + rear tail light and panel.
