My Mister is actually a '96 (Jan). It took 4 months to be delivered
after actually ordering it at my local Toyota dealer.
It's the "Bathurst" model which doesn't have power steering, airbag
or leather trim but it weighs less and goes faster!
I am considering fitting a turbo which would cost around AU$5,500.
It would increase engine output by around 40% (or so I'm told) but
insurance costs are slowly ruling the turbo mod out. 
It's a shame that Toyota never released the Turbo model in Australia.
Someone told me it was due to government emission regulations.
The saying "MR2 STICKS LIKE GLUE" is true. The only time
it didn't stick was under hard breaking on a freeway doing 100 Km/h. 
That heavy tail really loves to squirm, but ABS helped out a lot.
I love my MR2 and couldn't possibly think of anything better, not even
an RX7 (well maybe an M3 but it's twice the price).
