Location: Houston, TX USA
Car: 1991, MkII, White
Mileage: 76500 miles
Owned a 1985 Red Mark I before this one and liked it so well that there was no
other choice when it came time to trade.
Almost traded the 1991 until I discovered this web site and found out that they
are not being imported into this country any longer.
Wife drives it to work every day (my office is at home) and loves it.
Starting to experience wiring problems (power lock only works at certain angles
of the door, right mirror no longer moves, etc.) but figure it would cost a not-
so-small fortune to have it rewired. Power antenna no longer works either--
suspect stripped gear on drive motor as it still tries to raise & lower on start
up and shut down.
Body is in wonderful shape (it doesn't snow or freeze in Houston) and we usually
park at the far end of the parking lot to prevent other people from opening
their doors into the side of ours.
Just wish there was a competent and honest Toyota dealer to take it to for
service. The two I've used have a very high sleeze factor--particularly when the
wife takes it in rather than myself. (Example: Last winter it rained and then
froze after she had driven to work. When she came out, it would hardly move as
apparently the disk brake pads had frozen to the rotors. The service people told
her they would have to replace the drive train! All we had to do was wait for it
to warm up.)
All in all, we're both very happy with the car. But it is getting old and I wish
Toyota still imported them. Would really like another one. Sigh...
