I love my MR2. I've been around two seater "sports cars" for a while. My first was a 1959 Bug-eyed/frog-eyed Sprite and then an MGB, Triumph Spitfire, TR-6, to Datsun Z's, a 914 Porsche 2.L, a Pontiac Fiero (?), and some less interesting transportation. The MR2 has some of the more pleasent character of a British car, with the handling of a 914, the speed of a Z, the style of an Itallian sports car, and the compfort and cockpit of a 747. We have some exceptional auto clubs covering all types of cars in Huntsville with the exception of an MR2 owners club. Recently I drove in one of the Twickenham Auto Clubs slaloms/autocrosses, it was great fun! I spun the car twice on two of my runs, out but recovered nicely, and by the sixth time on the road course I did well enough for a second place in my class. Incidentlally a MKI MR2 won his class. Should anyone in the Huntsville, Decatur, Shoals, North Alabama/South Central Tennessee be interested in forming an MR2 owners group e-mail me and we'll see what happens.
