Our MR-2 is a stock 1987 Mk 1 version. It has clocked 115,000 miles and still
runs perfectly. The only modification is a 400 watt, 9 speaker sound system.
The sub-woofer is capable of giving the passenger a nice lower back massage.
Last year, when my son got too big to autocross the Lotus anymore, he started
running the MR-2 in a large, competitive C-stock class. This year, he racked
up 4 event wins and finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th in three different championship
points series. When the Esprit's motor gave up the ghost, I started
sharing the MR-2 with him... except I ran it in A-Street Prepared. Better
than giving up all my pointspart way through the season. The little skutter
managed 3 outright event wins, 4 second place finishes and (combined with the
Esprit's points) won the series championships in two points series and second
place in a third. In A-Street Prepared! In a race around the living
room, a Chihuahua will beat a Thorobread everytime. It's a great little car.
