Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Car: 1991 Turbo, -Hardtop-, White
Tag: SOLOTOY
Mileage: 57,200 (03/25/96)
About the Picture:
This was taken in Denver at the 1995 RMDiv Winter Series Autocross #2. I took
first place against two 911s and a white 1995 MR2 Turbo, only a week after
purchasing it.
Info:
I bought this car primarily for Solo II, Pro Solo and the occasional track
events. It has since, taken the place of my beloved Mustang LX 5.0L as the
daily driver. I can't believe how much fun this car is to drive. Whether it's
on the edge against the competition or just tooling around town, this car is
just plain fun to drive. I have added a "K&N" Air filter (Stock replacement)
for easier breathing and a "Suspension Technics" Sway Bar with custom endlinks
to help with the oversteer problems. My next upgrades will be front Tokico (or
Koni) adjustable shocks and a set of BFG R1s for better grip on the track.
Heads-Up: If you have recently purchased one of these wonderful vehicles and
have never driven a rear or mid-engine RWD car, on or near its edge. Please
learn how to drive it properly. You may find yourself pushing around a corner
into oncoming traffic or spinning on the highway, after a simple lane change.
This car woke me up to the different driving habits required for this breed of
automobile. I would suggest you try a local Autocross or SCCA Solo II event
(Same thing). This will teach you how to handle your new baby in adverse
situations, in a safe controlled environment, with people that can give sound
advice on what is happening with the car and you. If you would like help
finding information concerning these events please send me an E-mail and I may
be able to help get you started (US/Can. only).
