Also that person wondered what exactly each digit mean. I've found an explaination for each digit in a service manual for my previous car. ok, here's an example of a ID code: 4 P 3 B S 3 4 R 1 N E 0 0 0 0 0 1 1st digit: country, 4 = USA 2nd digit: Make, P = plymouth 3rd digit: Vehicle type, 3 = passenger car 4th digit: Others, B = manual seat belt, C = auto seat belt 5th digit: Line, S = Laser or Talon FWD 6th digit: Price class, 3 = Medium, 4 = High, 5 = Premium, 6 = Special 7th digit: Body, 4 = three door hatch back, etc 8th digit: Engine, T = 1.8L, R = 2.0L, U = 2.0L turbo 9th digit: Check digits, this is a single number or letter x used to verify the accuracy of transcription of vehicle ID number 10th digit: model year, N = 1992 11th digit: Plant, E = DSM 12th-17th digit: Serial number What each digit represents is universal, the example I gave after the definition of the digit is variable. |\__/+--+-\_____ -=[MR2]=- |_--##---------==> 06/5/95 "(*)------(*)--/ KeNdRiCk - {'93T: White @44K }
