It is true. Some people think thats better in some ways. Airflow is controlled several ways. On the GTE they used lower cams with less duration and bigger ports. On the GE they used higher camas with more duration and narrower ports. They say the narrower ports pushing higher velocity air makes for a better torque curve. There has to be a point where that curve loses optimal efficiency but I dont know where it is.
I just know that the GE does make for a decent turbocharged motor.
