Dont make the same mistake that caused the demise of the mr2 community's other N.America 9 second MR2.
I think I was reading that the guy had the psi in his DR's set too low, which gave his car too much grip off the line which made it really squirrely, and he couldnt regain control and smashed into the wall at 80mph or something like that.
Better to have the psi in your dr's on the highside than the lowside for some tire spin and be safe from destroying the car in the process of making your runs.
I am unsure if the MR2 will ever break into the 8's like the DSM's do, due to the stability problems that this short wheelbased RWD car has at the kind of speeds & acceleration required to run an 8.
