Hello all, just found this site today and hoped you all might be able to help me.
I have an '86 manual that I got a few years back and recently the water pump went out. started it long enough to get it in my garage after the tow and changed the water pump. However after I got everything hooked back up the engine would not start at all... I have made sure everything was plugged in and attached properly, I have spark getting to the spark plugs, and fuel at the fuel rail, but the engine won't start. I have had a starter switch in for a while now that leads directly from the battery to a switch in my car and back to the starter for awhile now that turns the engine, so it may be a problem that would normally stop the starter from turning.
Any suggestions? I have been checking it for almost a month now and don't seem to be much closer to an answer than I started.
Oh, and anyone know if the short metal rod that comes out of the timing belt tensioner bolt is actually used for anything?
Thank you for any help you can give, it is much appreciated.
