The reason why I say this is because...

If the car never overheated, and was returned because of a coolant leak.. then the head could be removed from the engine and the deck of the head and block could be checked for warpage.

If the engine was overheated that alone could have warped the deck of the engine and head.

If a mechanic gets a car back in overheated condition how is he supposed to know if the head gasket went from
- poor machining to begin with -- the builders fault
- detonation- the tuners fault
- overheating- the customers fault
