Actually, the [S] mode keeps one's shifts between gears 1 and 2, so fun holding gears into corners, with instant take off out of them, though not something one likes to bump into doing 100km/hr (60miles/hr) on the free way.

And the [PWR] switch appears to allow the car to continue revving higher before shifts, and will hold the revs high for a few secs if one doesn't release the accellerater right away, so again handy for quick spurts of the acellerator without a lag waiting on gearbox to shift back down for some oomph.

Yeah, yeah, I should just trade it in for a manual!

Still working on how the MANU (manual?) mode sits between the [PWR] and [ECON] modes. The only reference I have points to gear shifts at revs somewhere between the ECON and PWR selections. Not sure if it offers anything else.

On this Japanese import, I put it down to a good ol' fashioned 'engrish'.

Yep, while wheels won't spin on launch, one's never left in the dust at traffic lights.

I don't know what S is.. Maybe someone put that there on the button. But, all autos had ECT an dthe O/D OVerdrive switch on the shifter and the O/D normal econ lights on the gauge cluster. THe ECT was under the wiper switch.. SOme of the early auto na ECT switches were a little different in Japan.

Auto SC is probbably not that bad.. just not for me and not for a lot of people. Plus you can't hide the fact that it's an auto when you have the ttops off. Ahh.. I just hate auto...
