oops i forgot that.

i believe you can use resistor. on the one we did, we unbolted the shift position switch off the AT (its about the size of the palm of your hand, and lightweight), plugged it in, and held the key in the start position while turning it until the car cranked. then bolt it down securely to the vehicle and you're good to go! the switch is probably just a variable resistor, we just needed a quick solution and it worked so well i dont think the owner of the car ever went further with it.
