while it's true that the cooling system is responsible for managing engine temperature, there ARE things in the engine bay that require airflow, such as the alternator, various sensors, etc. if air were kept stagnant in the engine bay, we would be seeing wiring and hose failures very often. heat buildup IS a potential problem despite the liquid cooling system.
