ITS ALIVE!! (20V Swap Contents)
Well, after 9hrs of total work it's in and it runs. The motor is a Silvertop with Blacktop electronics. I'm using MR220V's ingenious conversion harness. The engine I got had all the vacuum lines taped up so no dirt got in them, after I had the engine mounted I thought I took them all off.
Once I had the motor all wired up I figured I'd fire it up to see what it sounded like. I couldn't get it to idle!? WTF?! So, being me, I checked the ignition, the timing, made sure the timing belt was timed correctly, double checked EVERYTHING...at least I thought so. After about an hour of chasing around any possible cause for the engine choke stumble and stall. Worst case scenario is my motor was ****ed, busted ring or something, blown head gasket who knows. That didn't make sense since the motor was originally automatic, and the valve train was *squeek*squeek* clean, no kinds of deposits anywhere. And then it happened, this bastard of a piece of blue masking tape was blocking the intake hole for the ISCV. So the motor was going rich since the ISCV wasn't introducing more air at idle, causing it to do a rich stall. I still have to mock up the coolant lines and get the exhaust routed, but it's in and it runs so I'm not complaining. PICTURES!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Hopefully it'll be back on the road by Monday. |

Let's just put it like this, I can't stand not finishing something once I start because if I stop, I won't remember what the **** I was doing when I start again. Still gotta do small things, but the majority is done with.

Very nice. 9 hours - how many random cuss words, broken knuckles, and curious bystanders?
I give you props as you are more mechanically inclined than I. Looks to be coming along, hopefully you do get it all finished up by Monday. |
