coil problem

Morning, my 20v st runs correctly when the coil is not screwed into the ignitor/coil bracket. When it is attached to the bracket and the bracket is screwed into the wall to the left of the battery above the fuse box, it does not run correctly. This occurs with a new and old coil.

Does this sound abnormal or has this occured with others? I'm going to change where the bracket sits, but it just seems very odd that it runs like this.

So you're saying your coil/igniter will provide spark not being grounded at all? It doesn't take much, but sitting on a metal grounded surface might be enough.

Anyway, sounds like you needs to change where you have your coil/igniter attached.

It now bolted with one screw to the cruise control brackets, and now it runs but will misfire roughly sometimes...smooth out..then misfire to the point that I cut it off. It ran good yesterday with the ignitor and bracket to the left of the battery and the coil sitting on the battery(only for testing purposes).

BTW-this is on the original coil and ecu
