speedometer gear
I'm trying to put all my hardware on the c56 trans...and since I dont have an electrical speedometer...I need to transfer the old speedometer gear. I however cannot get it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats what i did!!...i think somewhere i read they are one piece and dont come apart, and you have to order a new one...time to talk to aaron with lithia toyota

You can remove the bellhousing and push it out from inside. It's not as big of a deal as you might think to do this.

i'm giving that a try tomorrow i think....i wasnt sure if it would work or not...i hate gear oil...its everywhere...makes me wanna puke!! it should fit in the new bellhousing properly right?

sounds good...boy it'l be great trying to sell that old transmission...yea you can buy it...you just gotta tear your bellhousing off to get the speedometer gear outta the old one dude...oh and get a new mount...oh and your old shift assembly

A lot of the time the old transmission is not resellable. 200k+, grinding, 5th gear popping out, etc....

its only got either 115k or 140k miles on it...i have 2 cars over 100k and i cant remember which is which off the top of my head
all of the gears shift smooth and 5th gear has never popped out for me. it was owned by an older doctor...then a guy who just didnt even try to fix it (no oil to head problem)...then a guy who tryed and cudnt fix it...then me...i only drove it for a few thousand miles....and i only whaled on it a few times..i was more worried about blowing an oil seal and it leaking again then i was driving it really fast |

come to think of it my 2001 eclipse with just under 60k miles on it and a mixture of gear oil this company i konw that races them uses...grinds while the old @$$ mr2 doesnt hah go toyota
