Nothing wrong with going under the crossmember.. My y-pipe merges together just under it. However, it
does hug the crossmember pretty tight. 2.0"--> 2.5" after the merge and into the cat, then into the stock turbo muffler (I have an HKS Sport waiting to be installed). It's about as smooth as you can get, I think..
Clearance: You can barely see the y-pipe.. it's probably not quite an inch lower than the muffler, and since it's directly between the rear wheels, it's in a good place..
Exhaust: Hurr, pretty

It's louder than I was expecting.. I guess the performance-oriented y-pipe makes a huge difference. That, and I only have the main cat in the system.. no OEM pre-cats (usuing OEM non-cat manifolds). Honestly, I wish the pre-cat manifold would have fit, because I'd prefer a cleaner-running car as well as the more muffled sound..
