you can do a usdm gen2 3sgte and have it still pass smog. you will have to take it the BAR to have a ref look at it. but as long as its stock it should pass. however, if you do a gen3 swap it will not pass. no egr and its a JDM motor. but i would just give the BAR a call and see what your options are
