I know this is a little old, but I thought I'd chime in...since I used to detail professionally.
For the love of god DO NOT use brake fluid. Use Lacquer Thinner. Wet a rag with it, and wipe the sap. Re-wet the rag, do it again, etc till it's off. A lot of detailers use lacquer thinner for things like this. It's a detailers secret I guess. Great for removing tar from the rocker panels too, and many other uses. Just be careful when you use it, don't go dumping it straight on the paint. Bad idea!!! It will leave the paint hazy and dull, but that's not a issue. You have to hand polish the paint back out by hand with a quality polish.
