I have an '86 on which Im currently running the '87+ caliper brackets.

Get yourself a good set of pads. Im running the Axxis PBR Ultimates all around (about $80-85 shipped for complete set). I was considering Hawk pads, but they only make front pads. I think we have a bit of front end bias already and didnt need any additional. I have found the PBR Ulitmates to be an awesome all-round upgrade. It takes a lil bit of heating them up, but work really well. They are a bit on the dusty side, but I dont mind, its a small price for a good set of pads. I've had no issues of brake fade w/ them on track days and they are now almost 2yrs old. Given I only put about 2500 mi/yr on the car, when I run the car, I run it hard. The car only sees occasional warm/dry weather spirited driving and track events.

The second thing is rotors, upgrade to the '87+. I recommend the Bradi rotors (Brembo sister company). The Bradi's are Italian and made in the same factory as Brembo. Another good choice per other ppl's recomendations are the Napa rotors. Whether its the Bradi or Napa, just get an OEM replacement. They are roughly $19ea and $21ea (thats what I paid for the Bradi's). Dont waste your money now on the drilled/slotted or even the cryo'ed (frozen) treated. What it would cost you to buy a set of Powerslot cryo'ed, I can buy 5 sets of my Bradi's. The car has seen several track days and alot of hard driving, I have yet to feel any brake shudder in the steering wheel. I also check the rotors a few times per season for wear and have yet to see any. I think my pads will give way first.

Hope this helps. Its a very good budget brake system.
