I just installed a set of Russell SS brake lines on my 89 NA, and what a PITA that was. I bought them from Summit Racing and they had to order them from the factory. PN688000, they arrived with 4 brake lines and 8 aluminum washers to seal the banjo connectors. Waited 4 weeks and then the kit didn't come with hardware to install, and the OEM hardware didn't fit!

I called Summit and talked to Graham who told me that none of the brake line kits came with any hardware, that people wire tie them or use bailing wire. When I asked him if he would use bailing wire on his car he just restated the wire tie line.

Then I called Russell, and spoke to Art who actually works for Edelbrock and he said he would contact the guys at Russell and try to find out what was going on. Eventually he shipped me (by regular mail) 4 outer 1/2" circlips.

Ok, he tried, but the Russell kit not only didn't include all the necessary hardware, but the guy at Summit was a JERK!

Just like MR.Fixer I had to spend all day third world engineering the installation so I would be satisfied with the installation.

I wouldn't recommend the Russel SS brake lines for the MKI because they were not engineered for this car, (don't have the locking U clip on the banjo bolt for one thing) and the brake line supports are another.

Can't say how they will perform yet, but for $100 to the door I'm thinking they should live up to their advertising and come with everything to make the install as neat as the original equipment!

Very disappointed with Summit Racing's customer service - Graham!
