Sounds right to me. I've got two sc 12's on the bench right now that I'm rebuilding and the clutch surface is really uneven on one of them. I didn't know you could resurface those. If your contact works out let us know. There is also a very thin washer that sits in front of the clutch plate for spacing. That might help you with your clanking once you get it resurfaced.
