Looks like a lot of work. I'm probably wrong but I heard that pits are dangerous because Carbon Monoxide is heavier than air and it tends to settle in the pit. Carbon monoxide has a tendency to kill things. Until you do a little research on it, I don't advise running the engine while While you are in the pit. At the least, put a fan in there.
