you know, the 10MPH speed difference would be the tires spinning and having the speedo rise..
not to sound like a dick.... but here is my dick filled statement to you.
Drifting. for one, if you are going to complain about $3k to fix the car then you might want to look at how much money you WILL have to dump into the car to make it a decently set up drift car. I have driven a NA MK1 twice and I daily drive my MK2. STOCK they aren't any better drift cars then an "AE86" as you keep referring this "Corolla" as. actually you would be much better off with taking that 3k you'd spend fixing the car to make it work and buy a 240 or Miata which has a viscus LSD.
Lets review this short statement.
NA MR2's do NOT have what it takes to be a great "drift" car. they have probably the best potential drift cars that are cheap, but it would be a lot of money to push extra power out of the 4AGE (which isn't a great motor in the first place, unlike the 4AGZE) and then you'd need to add a LSD. and on top of that, update the 20+ year old suspension.
don't take a MK1 on a small budget to make it a fast "racer" car. take your money and make it a good collectible car. oh, and PS, if you try to drift a stock MK1 on a mountain in a fast manor, you will wreck it. someone who has no experience with a MR car needs to take it slow. ESPECIALLY with a MK1.
not saying don't do anything. **** for all I know, you could be the person Takumi is based on.
just my
